If you have been an ardent fan of Inside the NBA, then you’d know the infinite times that Barkley has been mocked for his bizarre outfits during his times as a player. Sadly, that trend has only continued. Even when the Philadelphia 76ers icon wears a formal outfit, the co-hosts Kenny Smith and Shaquille O’Neal have always found a way to pull his leg. Anyhow, Barkley has been unfazed by it. Be it old-school jeans or a jacket or a hoodie, Barkley wouldn’t mind wearing it if these clothes tick his box. What is that one condition? Let’s see.

Barkley made his first media appearance today since he announced his retirement from television after the 2025 NBA season. In a promotional video for his vodka brand Redmont, Barkley collaborated with Instagram influencer Chris Smoove, who is known for questioning the cost of outfits worn by celebrities. Smoove has previously collaborated with some of the biggest stars of America like Drake, Kanye West, and Ryan Garcia, among others. He has also interviewed a few basketball veterans like PJ Tucker, Angel Reese, and Damian Lillard. Now, it was Charles Barkley‘s chance to reveal the cost of his outfit.

The 1993 MVP presented himself with a simple outfit. He wore a black jean, a maroon hoodie, and maroon shoes, to match the color pallet of his Redmont bottle. Barkley revealed that his hoodie cost around $300, following which his black jeans cost below $200. Before he revealed the cost of his shoes, Chuck was reminded of the criticism he received for his jeans.

Barkley shared, “People giving me s*** though man… They telling me they are old people jean and it’s really pissing me off. I like my jeans. I got ten pairs of black, ten pairs of blue. I love to wear jeans…It’s comfortable.” That’s a great point from the Chuckster — prioritizing comfort in an outfit. If Barkley wants to stay old school, then no one is stopping him!

When Barkley got termed as the worst dresses of Inside the NBA

How can a formal outfit go wrong? Well, the Inside the NBA crew believes Barkley is capable of it. Especially Kenny Smith, who shared it in a YouTube interview last year. Although he believes Barkley has improved lately, he still believes that the 61-year-old is the worst dresser in the crew.

Chuck dresses the worst. Even though he has better suits. He just don’t know how to put it together. Somebody got to him in the last month or so. He’s been dressing well but it ain’t him,” said Smith, hinting that someone is helping him dress better.

Prior to that, Barkley also felt the heat when Ernie Johnson joked, “Big topic of conversation today, the plaid shirt with the Chuckster today,” during the playoffs this season. This was followed by Shaq’s comment who outright remarked that the 76ers star was ‘not looking good’. Chuck, unfazed, went on to say “anytime I’ve got this face on me I look good.”

Chuckster also revealed that he was only experimenting and would much prefer people looking at his face rather than his fit. At the end of the day, seems like comfort is what matters most for Barkley. There’s no harm in trying something new, but Barkley is the one to stick to his roots maybe.
