Anthony Edwards gets a beating both on and off the court! Tonight, the Minnesota Timberwolves took on the defending champs at their home. It was a tight game. Despite Anthony Edwards’ off night, the team managed to force overtime. However, unfortunately, they couldn’t cross the line. Additionally, before the disappointment, Charles Barkley dragged Ant-Man’s name through the mud, as he dropped his latest take on the Michael Jordan comparison.
In the previous season, the NBA world witnessed a sudden surge of memes and debates surrounding MJ and Edwards. Especially, a particular video that had a comparison of both players’ dunks went viral. Moreover, the Bulls legend reportedly responded to a comparison as per Chris Broussard, who reached out to Jordan and stated that he agreed to the comparison. Guess the next move, the media was all over it.
Speaking of the media’s response to the hype, Charles Barkley said, “One thing we do on television that’s so stupid. Like last year we said this dude is like Michael Jordan, they just both black.” This isn’t the first time when Chuck trashed the comparison. Last season, amid Anthony Edwards’ wild postseason run, he had a request to the Americans, saying, “Please stop the Michael Jordan stuff. This guy has had one good playoff run.”

Tonight, Chuck further added, “He’s not Michael Jordan, and I think he’s a great kid. And he got a chance to be a great player. But I personally think he’s regressing, become a jump shooter. He’s not aggressive. He’s going to have to become more of a leader. When you have a breakout, it doesn’t get easier. It gets harder.” Charles Barkley argued that Edwards lost his explosive game near the rim and focused more on his jumpers.
One thing that sparked the comparison was Ant-Man’s ability to stay in the air and dunk the ball. Now that the star’s game has majorly shifted toward shooting, Chuck ended the debate saying that the only similarity the duo has between them is their race.

Anthony Edwards’ response amid the trashing
The Minnesota Timberwolves guard has already responded to the viral comparison. The 23-year-old being the modest rising star said, “I want it to stop. He’s the greatest of all time. I can’t be compared to him.” Well, that’s the only right thing to say, considering the mammoth achievement that Michael Jordan has created over his career.
Moreover, it wasn’t just Barkley who said this. Moments after Barkley made that statement, Kenny Smith, who was sitting alongside him at the Inside the NBA show, verbally agreed to Chuck’s words. Above all, speaking of the changing game style, Anthony Edwards himself responded after the game.

Speaking to the reporters after the game, Edwards said, “I don’t know, man. That was a good brand of basketball but that’s not how I wanna play. of course. I’m only 23, I don’t wanna just be passing the ball all night… But the way they’re guarding me, I think I have to.” Without a doubt, we can say that the Wolves haven’t been the same since the trade.
