The Inside the NBA took the honor of announcing the final candidates for the regular season awards, which have started to surface all around the internet. The finalists for the Most Valuable Player are Nikola Jokic from the Denver Nuggets, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander from the OKC Thunder, and Luka Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks. Kenny Smith found one thing in common between the above three superstars, which also helped Charles Barkley to come up with an interesting concept for the All-Star game. However, the Sixers legend believes Adam Silver will be too scared to turn his concept into reality.
After Ernie Johnson announced the finalists for the MVP awards, Rockets icon Kenny Smith shared, “Hey, how about this? All foreign boys!” Barkley took over and said, “That’s why I think Adam Silver is scared to switch the All-Star game to America against the world. They would beat the hell out of us.” There was no hesitation from Barkley.
The above All-Star concept was brought in during 2020 for the Rising Stars game, where Team USA beat Team World by 20 points. However, Barkley believes the narrative will be different in the main All-Star game. After the All-Star game this year got a lot of criticism for not being competitive, Adam Silver asked the fans to wait for the 2025 All-Star weekend in San Francisco.

Did Adam Silver hint at Team USA vs Team World for 2025 All-Star weekend?
The Team USA vs Team World concept in the Rising Stars game in 2020 worked quite well. Luka Doncic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Trae Young, Ja Morant, Zion Williamson, etc. took part in this competitive match-up, which had the fans entertained. Ever since, the basketball buffs have been aching to watch the same in the main All-Star game, which has not happened so far. However, Adam Silver has finally hinted at its arrival for the 2025 All-Star game in San Francisco.
The Commissioner shared, “I know we’re busy already planning for new excitement, thinking about what All-Star 2025 will be…People are out there talking about concepts like a Ryder Cup format – maybe US players playing against Global players. We’re looking at all different approaches to All-Star – stay tuned.”
Like Charles Barkley said, Team World would be deadly. Imagine Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Doncic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Domantas Sabonis, all on the same side! Doesn’t that sound like a nightmare? With Kevin Durant, LeBron James, and Stephen Curry entering the final phases of their career, let’s hope Adam Silver approves Barkley’s idea.
