Charles Barkley is new to the dubstep scene. He’s not really familiar with how Shaquille O’Neal turns into DJ Diesel and back. Since the TNT Crew has brought the Inside the NBA set to Indianapolis for the All-Star Weekend, TNT has made it an expansive fan experience. That included DJ Diesel getting the crowd pumped at the Convention Center ahead of tonight’s televised game.

The studio setting shifted from the concert to the show. However, Shaq was skipping the Halftime report. When Ernie Johnson commented on Shaq playing to the gallery both as an NBA player and a DJ, Barkley said, “Well, clearly he thinks he still playing. This body ain’t good enough to just be wearin’ a t-shirt.”

Well, Shaq was wearing his usual white tank top. something Ernie defensively said is his “DJ uniform.” But since he’s missing his TNT analysis gig for this, the Chuckster asked if it’s because “He can’t put his shirt back on?”

Shaq was dressed for the All-Star festivities. They added a long ramp for the on-the-road setup, giving our guys a chance to put on their fashion game-faces. Shaquille O’Neal stepped out for the Tip-Off in a wine-colored velour suit. Barkley kept it classic in a safe grey number, looking underwhelming next to Kenny ‘The Jet’ Smith’s bold salmon-colored statement.

Despite his boring choice of suit, Charles Barkley played Fashion Police grading the All-Star fits. Spoiler: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, James Harden, and DJ Diesel did not impress.

Chuck insisted, “He could just put a tie and shirt back on,” and go from the DIESEL console in the back to the TNT desk at the end of the ramp. Ernie insisted clothes weren’t the reason. “He’s exhausted,” after making the fans in the Convention Center jump on their feet. At one point, O’Neal had a fan on his shoulders. He understandably needed a breather. Besides, the Inside Crew isn’t going anywhere.

TNT makes All-Star Weekend special

TNT also pulled out all the stops from the production end for the All-Star weekend. While it prepared for coverage from the Indiana Convention Center, Gainbridge Fieldhouse, and Lucas Oil Stadium, special attention was given to Inside the NBA. More than a week later, dozens of local contractors and hundreds of workers created the spectacular set for a joint concert and analysis show set. About an estimated 75 to 100 production and support staff are working behind the scenes to run the broadcast.

Apart from being hands-on with All-Star coverage, TNT is making it an immersive fan experience for the Pacers fans who are hosting the All-Star Weekend for the first time in four decades. TNT is covering everything from the tip-off to the game, including Steph and Sabrina’s 3-point challenge as well as the Rising Stars challenge.
