Is Charles Barkley a comedic genius or just plain offensive with his city-targeted jokes?

Chuck sure loves to joke around, but his sense of humor isn’t for everyone. The 76ers legend’s comment about San Francisco being dirty wasn’t received in good spirits. Turner Sports even asked the media veteran to tone down his jokes to avoid criticism. As the time for his retirement slowly approaches, Sir Charles has become more carefree, risking TNT’s potential viewership with his ultimatum.

Chuck has often expressed his frustration about being stopped or restricted by broadcasting standards when making his jokes. However, no relief has been provided for his problem. During his latest appearance on Throwbacks with Matt Leinart and Jerry Ferrara, Sir Charles warned TNT viewers that there are certain cities they shouldn’t watch shows or sports from if they don’t appreciate his humor. “I like to make fun of certain cities,” Charles Barkley said on Throwbacks

He added,First of all, they don’t have a sense of humor. They shouldn’t be watching our show or Sports…Some people always offended about something. You should be able to take a jump…First and foremost, I try not to ever get personal. I never talk about guys’ personal relationship. That’s their own business that’s, I would never discuss another person’s personal business”

If viewers were to follow his advice, it would result in a significant loss for the network because Chuck likes to joke about nearly every city, with a few exceptions. During the interview, he went on a rant describing San Antonio’s geography, criticizing the famous River Walk that attracts many visitors, calling it a “dirty creek.”

Regardless of Chuck calling it a creek, the River Walk isn’t just about sightseeing for visitors, Chuck! It serves an important function for the locals, as it runs through central and southern Texas. But wait, there’s more.

Cities that Charles Barkley has joked about

Here are all the cities that have become Charles Barkley’s targets. To start with is San Antonio, where it seems he has a beef with the city. He once made a controversial comment about the women of San Antonio, calling them fat. Regardless of his candidness, the comment seemed offensive to many women in the city.

“If you crack a joke the wrong way, they’re like, ‘Oh, no, no, no, you crossed the line. I mean, they won’t even let me talk about San Antonio anymore when I’m always talking about their big ole women down in San Antonio,” the Philadelphia 76ers legend argued.

He also criticized San Francisco, calling it a dirty city that has many “homeless people.” A somewhat similar comment was directed at Indiana as well, which didn’t sit well at the time. While the above cities are his favorite to joke about, Houston also became his target once or twice. However, as he clarified, he has never meant it the wrong way.
