The Bulls, led by the great Michael Jordan, were the most dominant force in the NBA during the 90s. Despite Jordan’s abrupt break after the 1993 championship and then leaving the franchise again in 1998, the Bulls won six NBA titles. Nothing of such class was seen in the league before that, and decades later, there’s no one who has duplicated it. However, this dominance came at a cost for other teams and players.
Recently, Charles Barkley talked about his ex-best friend Jordan on his podcast. Barkley took a trip down memory line talking about the stinging L he was handed by the Bulls, three decades ago. Reminiscing over the good ol’ NBA days, Barkley revealed the one thing that still makes him mad.

The Chicago Bulls era was tough for everyone who wasn’t wearing the red and black jersey. This problem particularly stemmed from the determination of one man, Michael Jordan. While most athletes just accepted that there wasn’t a solution for the 6’6 problem, there were some brave hearts who tried to execute a plan. Yet, they failed. As it turns out, Jordan’s ex-friend Barkley is also one of the victims of the dominant franchise.
Recently, Barkley was in conversation with a co-host of his podcast, Ernie Johnson, and guest, Henrik Lundqvist. Lundqvist is an NHL veteran, and they were discussing the feeling of victory in front of thousands of fans. However, the NHL veteran said that the losses stick to him more than his wins on the ground. Barkley immediately co-signed his take and recalled his 1993 NBA Finals when he was representing the Phoenix Suns. The Round Mound of Rebound was also the league MVP that year, but could not take his team to glory against the Bulls. Barkley said, “That’s the only time I get mad”. The Suns were crushed by the Chicago franchise in six games, with John Paxson hitting the game-winning three-point shot.
This win by the Bulls also marked their first three-peat, a feat that they repeated in the same decade.

Charles Barkley and Michael Jordan’s lost friendship
Back in the day, the two NBA Hall of Famers used to be on great terms. Their friendship began when the two were representing the USA with The Dream Team. After that, they bonded over a shared love for basketball and golf. Jordan, who was the biggest superstar at the time, was fond of Barkley. Barkley too, has always been a straight shooter when it comes to voicing his opinions.

This probably was the reason behind their ultimate fallout as well, as Jordan took offense at Barkley’s comment on his poor team management as an owner. Today, the two legends are not on talking terms. However, fans still wish that the veterans squash their beef and make peace.
