Bad luck continues to follow Damian Lillard. After returning from a long battle with a blood clot in his calf, Lillard suffered another brutal injury against the Indiana Pacers. This latest setback hit during the Bucks’ first-round playoff series in game 4, leaving fans gutted and the team scrambling to adjust without their star. Lillard, who was excited to make a comeback after the 14 regular games and game 1 miss, is once again out of the season, and this could jeopardize the Bucks’ serious shot at advancing in these playoffs. For Coach Doc Rivers and the entire squad, Damian’s absence is a huge loss at this point in the playoffs. On top of that, it also threatens their whole postseason strategy now. And now Chandler Parsons weighed in, offering an insider’s view on just how big this blow feels.

During the first quarter of the Pacers’ Game 4 win, Damian Lillard was spotted sitting motionless, visibly uncomfortable. The 34-year-old tried grabbing an offensive rebound off a missed three-pointer, but it wasn’t his time anymore. He was clutching his left calf and Achilles. Lillard then carefully hopped his way to the bench, leaving Bucks fans holding their breath about the superstar’s condition. The team confirmed Lillard would undergo an MRI on Monday, and as far as reports are to be believed, he has suffered a left Achilles tendon tear. But before that, Chandler Parsons broke down just how vital Lillard is to Milwaukee’s playoff hopes and why this injury spells disaster.

On a recent Run It Back episode, Chandler Parsons didn’t sugarcoat how much the Bucks need Damian Lillard to survive this playoff run. “They (Bucks) have without Damian Lillard,” Parsons said bluntly, emphasizing how crucial the All-Star guard is to Milwaukee’s offensive rhythm. He explained, “When you take off a guy like Damian Lillard, just the attention he creates on the offensive end and allows the game to come so much easier for everybody else, it’s tough.” Parsons made it clear that losing Lillard is now brutal for a Bucks team that is already leaning heavily on his leadership and scoring ability.

It’s not just about numbers either. Lillard’s presence forces defenses to adjust, opening better looks for teammates and creating valuable space inside.  “It’s not ideal for them, right now when you want to be healthiest, when you want to be at peaking and confident going into the postseason.” Parsons added. His remarks echoed what fans and analysts have been saying for days. Milwaukee’s playoff hopes might be hanging by a thread.

At the post-game press conference, Coach Doc Rivers didn’t sound too optimistic about Lillard’s injury when addressing reporters. “Just being honest, it’s not very promising,” Rivers admitted, delivering a gut punch to Bucks supporters, still hoping for good news. Unfortunately, this isn’t Milwaukee’s only concern. The franchise could also lose another superstar.

Damian Lillard’s injury might be the escape window that Giannis Antetokounmpo was looking for

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s never exactly sold himself as the loyalty-over-everything kind of star. He’s here for championships, plain and simple. For years, he’s quietly used the possibility of leaving Milwaukee to push the organization into moves that help him win. Back in 2020, with free agency looming, the Bucks traded a mountain of picks for Jrue Holiday to keep Giannis happy and committed.

With Lillard out, is Giannis ready to carry the Bucks or seek a new championship path?

Have an interesting take?

It worked. Milwaukee secured Giannis long-term, and Holiday helped deliver a 2021 title that cemented the gamble as an absolute win. But after that championship run, injuries crept in, and the Bucks fell short of expectations. That’s when Giannis’ patience started slipping. “Winning a championship comes first. I don’t want to be 20 years on the same team and don’t win another championship,” he told The New York Times.

In response, Milwaukee swung big again, trading for Damian Lillard in 2023. Another move designed to satisfy their superstar’s hunger. Giannis signed another extension, and the Bucks hoped they’d built a championship core. But reality had other plans this season. Injuries hit hard, and the Pacers once again have Milwaukee hanging by a thread. Lillard missed Game 1 and fought through pain later.

By Game 4, Lillard tore his Achilles, a devastating blow that likely ends his prime. And also the duo’s chance to contend together. Now, with Milwaukee on the verge of elimination, the big question hanging over the fans is: What will Giannis do? Will he test the market, chase a ring elsewhere, or give Milwaukee one more year to fix this broken championship window?
