Would Wembanyama and LeBron really mesh, or is Garnett right about the potential disaster?

Rookie of the Year but there is still a lot Victor Wembanyama could work on. Doing something similar, Wemby was recently spotted with Jamal Crawford in the gym. While J Crossover could have some invaluable tips on ball handling, ex-Boston Celtics stars Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce have additional names that could help the 7’4″ player.

The discussion emerged on a recent episode of KG Certified, where Garnett expressed his belief that once done with Crawford, Wemby could really use Tim Duncan’s help. Meanwhile, Pierce suggested LeBron James‘ name, stating, “He need to go mess with Bron. Bron? Yeah. Cause he can see how to prepare… This ain’t even about the game. It’s just how to get ready.” But this suggestion did not make any sense to Garnett. The 15x All-Star believes if he was at Anthony Davis‘ place and saw Bron helping Victor, he’d lose his sh*t.

“Get the f*ck outta here. That’s… I (assuming KG was Davis) gotta guard that motherfucker. You gotta guard me… Nah, P you blow. Listen, what you saying?” KG said. Notably, Davis is the one who takes on the 2024 Rookie of the Year during the San Antonio Spurs and LA Lakers match-up. Appearing on the ‘Join the Lobby’ podcast, AD has already mentioned Wembanyama as one of the toughest players to guard last season. “Once he grows into his body and get stronger, it’s going to be a problem,” he added.

So it’s understandable for KG to believe Davis would not want his own teammate to further his trouble. Thus ex-Spurs star Duncan himself was a suggestion from Kevin Garnett. “If I’m Wendy, I’m doing, like, a three part. I work with Jamal Crawford, but then I go find Timmy. I go find Dream (Hakeem Olajuwon). He need to be out there with KD. Him and KD still going down north… He (Wemby) need to go tap into some knowledge,” the ex-Celtics star said.

How does Kevin Garnett’s Duncan suggestion work for Spurs rookie?

Have an interesting take?

Having averaged a double-double throughout his career, Timmy is considered one of the most consistent players ever in the NBA. In addition, Duncan was also among the best interior defenders the league ever witnessed. With a career stat line of 19.0 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game, it’s clear that Duncan was proficient on both the offensive and defensive ends.

He perfected all the aspects of the game needed to succeed as a player. A master of the backboard bank shot, he used his size exactly as he should have. These are the multiple things Wemby could pick up from Timmy.

Now, the 15x All-Star may not have been an out-of-this-world basketball player, but he surely became the face of the Spurs during his time with the franchise. This is something Victor also needs to do for the team as of now. And now with Chris Paul also on the team, he will have additional help both on and off court to achieve this.
