Karl-Anthony Towns has been in the fast lane ever since he arrived in the Big Apple. It didn’t take him long to find his pace. Shooting and rebounding, he has been exceptional in elevating the team. Just recently, he dropped 23 points to lead the Knicks to a 116-95 win over the already struggling Heat. However, the past week has been tough for Towns, as he found himself caught in chaos with Draymond Green. Amidst the drama, a gesture from a former NBA player might have boosted his morale. This has surely won over the hearts of fans, who took to social media to criticize the Warriors star.
After the Knicks’ thunderous win, Towns had a wholesome exchange with former New York Knicks player Carmelo Anthony. Melo, who played nearly seven years with the Knicks, understands the rivalry and the significance of the win. He was quick to show some love to the 5x NBA All-Star, hugging him and sharing a few words of encouragement. As he spoke just above a whisper, his words weren’t heard, but it’s safe to assume they only motivated Towns more.
Fans who appreciated the gesture argued that the former NBA player wouldn’t have taken Green’s earlier accusations lightly. “Melo woulda slapped fire outta Draymond lmao,” a fan wrote. It began with Green’s comment.

Towns had missed the Knicks vs. Warriors game on March 4 due to personal reasons which shouldn’t be such a big chaos. However, following that, Green made an odd comment during The Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis, claiming that KAT missed the game to avoid meeting his rival Jimmy Butler at the game, who joined the Golden State Warriors not long ago.

“They said KAT ain’t play because Jimmy came to town,” he said. It turns out that Towns’ personal reason was attending a close family friend’s funeral. His longtime girlfriend, Jordyn Woods, took to social media to express her grief over losing a loved one to breast cancer. This is what led to the beginning of the drama.

Towns further mentioned that he has begun to appreciate life more after experiencing the loss of family members in the last few years. Subtly hinting at Green’s harsh comment, this fan wrote, “(Melo) Prob telling him he would’ve stood up for him.” Praising Melo, one fan wrote, “Love how Melo embraced KAT, he knows Draymond’s the real b—-.”
What surprises fans and Towns’ teammates is that Green has yet to apologize for his statement. This fan wrote, “Melo is the realist. He would have 100% pressed up on Draymond.” Green did however give a justification for his comment.

After all, the Warriors star wasn’t right about his claims. Many argued that he should have apologized, and Towns’ teammate Josh Hart shared the same sentiment. This netizen wrote, “Melo was tough hopefully he’s giving him some advice to grow a pair.”
The next time Green and Towns suited up was on March 15. While the New York Knicks lost, KAT had an impressive performance, notching 29 points and 12 rebounds on 12-21 shooting from the field and 3-5 from deep. Since Melo’s words were inaudible, fans’ assumptions only continued to grow. Another netizen wrote, “Melo telling him, he woulda snuffed Green if he was his teammate.” Not to forget, all the way back last year, Green also criticized KAT on the TNT show.
