Barely started his senior year season and the latest updates on Carmelo Anthony’s son already seem concerning. For those unaware, the 17-year-old sustained a lower back injury during Long Island Lutheran’s first game of the season. While the early reports indicated no serious issues, the recent update may seem concerning.
La La Anthony shared an IG story of people gathered around the TV and celebrating a team’s score. Judging from the screen, it was an LA Clippers game and La La must have had a bet going. The caption read, “If I win my whole family wins!!!” However, the highlight of the story is not the game but a guy wearing a black hoodie and standing with crutches.
Considering the recent incident, chances are that the boy could be La La and Kiyan Anthony’s 17-year-old son, though the face of the person was not evidently clear.

In his season opener, Anthony delivered an impressive 16-point performance, leading LuHi to a dominant 74-35 victory over St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute. The game was filled with electrifying moments, including an unforgettable play in the fourth quarter, when Anthony soared for a dunk. However, as he approached the rim, St. Joseph’s Nate Blenman contested the attempt mid-air.
“Kiyan took off like a pro,” said St. Joseph’s coach Cooper Calzonetti, according to Newsday. “When you’re in the air like that, it’s crazy. I know Nate didn’t mean to do anything.” Despite the tough contest, the 17-year-old completed the dunk, but the landing was brutal. He hit the floor hard, leaving the crowd in stunned silence.
“Being in the air and realizing you don’t have your feet under you is always a scary feeling,” Kiyan later admitted. As per the reports, it’s his tailbone, hamstring, and lower back that absorbed the impact. “I would say this is the worst it [has] happened,” Anthony added.

Thankfully, early assessments brought some relief. Although in pain, Kiyan’s injury was described as a “bruise” by LuHi coach John Buck. “It’ll take some time… but we’ll get him some treatment,” the coach reassured fans.

If you’ve been keeping an eye on La La’s Instagram stories, you’ve probably caught a glimpse of the warm and vibrant vibe at one of her recent gatherings. Good food, a little booze, a karaoke machine, and a room full of laughter was all this gathering was about.
But the real showstopper? Kiyan grabbing the mic for a freestyle session! La La couldn’t resist sharing the proud moment with the caption, “Now @kiyananthony is freestyling.” And from the latest IG storis of La La, it seems this recent injury has given the 17-year-old more time to send with his mom. But if the reports are to be believed, he will soon be back on the court.
