What a run it has been for Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics so far. After a disappointing end to the 2022 Finals, Tatum is back to a familiar place, sweeping the Indiana Pacers 4-0 to top the Eastern Conference. However, the ultimate battle is yet awaited. But before that, here is a message from Tatum to his haters, for which he decided to steal a few famous words from NBA legend Carmelo Anthony.
Tatum showcased his best performance against the Pacers in the playoffs this year. He averaged 30.3 points, 10.3 rebounds. and 6.3 assists per game with a field goal percentage of 46.8. However, he did not get enough spotlight for this efficiency. So he wrote on his Instagram, “It’s enough haters out there, why not cheer for me” – @carmeloanthony“, to which Anthony’s 17-year-old Kiyan replied, “!!”.
This quote from Anthony was shared during his time with the Portland Trailblazers. It was in 2021, amid his battle against the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs. Anthony had quite a disappointing performance in game 2, in which the Blazers lost. He had just 5 points and 2 rebounds in 21 minutes, for which he was criticized. So, on training day before game 3, Anthony called out his haters with the above quote.

The video went viral as the 10x All-Star backed his words by delivering in game 3. Despite the loss, Anthony had 17 points and 2 rebounds off the bench in game 3. Tatum used the same quotes, and now, it looks like we will be witnessing something similar in the Finals.

This is quite an unexpected tribute from Tatum to Anthony, along with a message. The respect between the two has been mutual, and this would be the perfect time to look back into Anthony’s big claim about Tatum.
Carmelo Anthony believes Jayson Tatum can claim the biggest tag of the NBA
Tatum has been the face of the Boston Celtics for quite a few of years now, despite being surrounded by talented veterans like Jaylen Brown and Jrue Holiday. However, Carmelo Anthony thinks it’s time for Tatum to step up the game to become the face of the league shortly.
“Are you committed to doing what you got to do constantly to be the face of the league because they throwing that out there too loosely… It’s two people that maybe have a chance to be the face of the league if they want it and that’s Jayson Tatum if he wants”, said Anthony.

The other one would be Anthony Edwards from the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, he is just 22 years old, so there is time for him to make it to the conversation of ‘Face of the league‘. Maybe for Tatum, adding a championship to his resume can make a case for it. Let’s see if he can get it done this year.
