Silence prevailed when La La Anthony asked her son Kiyan what GOAT gift he got for her in a friendly banter earlier this year. Seems like the 42-year-old received an answer now. Carmelo Anthony and La La’s son just showed how much he loves her by getting a tattoo!

On Monday, InkedNBA shared an IG post featuring Kiyan Anthony getting a tattoo on his forearm. “Dear Mom, you continuously put me before yourself. You are my why. I thank God for you everyday,” reads the tattoo, as revealed in the caption to the IG post. Further deduced from the images, the writing accompanies an image of La La.

However, this isn’t his first tattoo. When the boy turned 16 last year, La La allowed him to get his first tattoo, which was on his left ankle. The tattoo reads, “Creator of my own Reality”.

It looks like the teenager is just like his father in the tattoo department. Carmelo Anthony has more than 20 tattoos! Here are some of Melo’s tattoos inspired by his family :

  1. Kiyan: The veteran player has two tattoos dedicated to his son. The first one is Kiyan’s full name “Kiyan Carmelo Anthony” on his right pec, followed by his birthdate, “March 7, 2007”. He also got his son’s footprints inked on his chest.
  2. West Baltimore: His WB tattoo is often confused with the Warner Brothers logo on his left shoulder. However, WB stands for West Baltimore. It is a small homage to Melo’s childhood home.
  3. Puerto Rican flag: On his right hand, the basketball player has the Puerto Rican flag inked. The tattoo was dedicated to his father, who was Puerto Rican.

What’s your perspective on:

Does Kiyan's heartfelt tattoo for his mom La La redefine family values in the celebrity world?

Have an interesting take?

Clearly, Carmelo Anthony and Kiyan have a similar way of showing love and appreciation towards family members.

Kiyan is their only child. No doubt, Melo and La La have always ensured a keen presence in their son’s life. Be it his games or his near million followers count, the 42-year-old mother has been the most enthusiastic. “He’s got almost a million followers!” she exclaimed via PEOPLE as the 17-year-old started tasting fame with his impressive run in basketball of late.

It might be quite early in his career, but his mother already had some advice for him in March this year. “Just do what makes you happy … Just quiet the outside noise. I always tell him, ‘Quiet the outside noise. It’s not important.'”

With Kiyan’s impressive Peach Invitational run having just come to an end, La La seems to be treating her little one with the trip. She recently shared an IG post captioned, “Tokyo has my heart” (in Japanese) accompanying a few snaps. While some include them strolling through the streets of Tokyo, one video featured both undertaking Katana lessons. The Power star also shared a series of IG stories. From shopping to visiting the laser show, the mother-son duo is clearly having a blast. However, all this came after a period of turmoil.

“Couldn’t ask for a better partner”: When La La credited Anthony for smooth co-parenting

During an exclusive interview with E! News last year, the 42-year-old star navigated through a new chapter of her life with her ex-husband by keeping Kiyan as the priority over everything. The former couple, who parted ways in 2021 after over a decade of being married, have shared a cordial bond.

But how does a couple maintain such a friendly bond even after separation? “At the end of the day, the center of everything is Kiyan…” La La explained, speaking to E! News. She emphasized her belief in reflecting to her kid that his parents love each other and that they can be a family, irrespective of the circumstances.

Further, in the interview, La La highlighted that she and Carmelo Anthony made Kiyan with a great amount of love and they want to continue that love for him throughout his life. “I couldn’t ask for a better partner and the co-parenting space,” she said. And so far everything La La said in the interview seems to stand true, as Kiyan shares a great bond with both his father and mother.
