Carmelo Anthony has been holding some grudges about the #15 Denver Nuggets jersey. He has repeatedly said that he is not pleased by the fact that the Nuggets gave Nikola Jokic his jersey. This also means that the Nuggets will not retire that jersey in his name, and he will be deprived of the honor.
Recently, Shannon Sharpe and Gilbert Arenas talked about Carmelo’s recent comments about the jersey. Sharpe said that, with all due respect, Jokic deserves the jersey more than him, and he listed out a couple of reasons why the Nuggets will never be on board with Carmelo’s wishes.
Sharpe said, “You forget you forced your way out. I’m sorry. You forced your way out of a relationship, and I don’t hold you in high regard. Please forgive me.” Carmelo has been very vocal about his discomfort with the Nuggets allegedly trying to erase what he did for the franchise. While he thinks that he deserves the honor, Sharpe begs to differ.

The NFL veteran made a tall claim about Jokic, saying that he will be a top 10 player when it’s all said and done, and that is something no one saw coming. Sharpe said, “I’m sorry Melo, but nobody’s gonna remember you wore 15”. Arenas and Sharpe agreed on the fact that Jokic has done more for the franchise despite entering the league with little to no expectations. They said that when the Joker entered the league, no one saw him as the player that he is today. That is why, Carmelo can’t say that the Nuggets intentionally wanted to erase his legacy and because of that intention they gave the same jersey to Jokic.

Now, Carmelo is a veteran of the game and is considered to be a legend by many. So he deserves the respect and honor that is usually given to an athlete of his caliber in order to acknowledge their work. However, for him, it is going to be the New York Knicks who will give him the honor and not the Nuggets.

Although there is no confirmation from the Knicks as of now on whether they will retire his jersey or not, the internet has been buzzing with this demand for him. Arenas have also said in the past that the Knicks not retiring his jersey is “fuc**d up”. Whenever that happens, one thing is for sure, the #15 for the Denver franchise now belongs to Jokic.
