Ahead of the All-Star weekend, Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade wanted to increase fan interaction on social media. For this, he decided to use a bit of help from his famous NBA brothers, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul. Fans used this opportunity to ask some intriguing questions about these icons’ role models. While Anthony threw some light on a famous Knicks superstar, his answer was only going to be Michael Jordan.
Anthony shared, “Michael Jordan was the culture. He was basketball and inspired me to get up and play.” Melo has endorsed the 6x champion for most of his career. Even in the GOAT debates involving MJ and his best friend LeBron James, Anthony did not hesitate to choose the former. The 39-year-old said, “You know, M.J. is the GOAT. He’s the greatest ever. We all know that and we all agree to that.”
The respect has always been two-sided. Anthony got the honor of being the first-ever signature athlete for the Jordan brand. He signed a huge deal around $22 million, which was one of the highlights of his career. Speaking of his contract, he shared, “I was excited to have my own signature shoe with a Jordan Brand… And then we actually made a great shoe. So I’ll always be grateful for this sneaker right here.”

Anthony did not have the honor to share the court with MJ. Anyhow, he would still trash-talk the Bulls icon. But we all know Mike! You are never winning a trash-talk battle against him.
How did Michael Jordan shut Anthony down easily?
Anthony was a fan of MJ, but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t talk trash to his idol. After all, that is their favorite hobby. In an interview, the Knicks great shared, “You can’t argue with that man, it’s impossible…He knows a certain number of us, you know, that we go back at him like we’ll talk our s— to him.” MJ would just use a simple mechanism.

“But then he gets to start talking about winning and rings and s—. That’s his defensive mechanism,” said Anthony. Sadly, the 10x All-Star does not have a ring on his decorated resume. Anyway, this friendly banter shows the respect they have for each other.
