After expressing his gratitude to Will Smith for a favor ahead of the 2008 Olympics, Carmelo Anthony has now yet again thanked another Bad Boys franchise star. This came during the ‘7 PM in Brooklyn’, where Smith and Martin Lawrence joined Melo on the podcast.

During the episode, the former NBA star took the opportunity to thank Lawrence for his years of contribution to the entertainment industry that generations grew up watching. “I’m a fan… I’ve never met you before… I grew up on you. We all grew up on you… I just wanna say thank you for what you bring to the game, what you bring to the industry, what you brought to our households,” Melo said.

Carmelo Anthony further acknowledged Lawrence as an artist who made audiences laugh, cry, and, in fact, made families come together. “I just wanna say, personally, I never got a chance to tell you that, but thank you,” he added. Lawrence has been in the industry for more than three decades now and has appeared in some notable works like the Bad Boys franchise, Nothing to Lose, and Life.

The most recent one of these includes the fourth installment of the Bad Boys franchise — Bad Boys: Ride or Die. Lawrence and Smith were with Anthony on his podcast for the same reason as Melo had recently held a private screening movie with Will, Martin, Mero, Kiyan Anthony and Tracy Morgan. It was during this episode of the podcast that the former Denver Nuggets star thanked Smith as well.

During the episode of ‘7PM in Brooklyn’, the 10x All Star revealed it was Smith who inculcated a sense of motivation in him for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. “We was talking about the ’08 Olympics, and you asked me, you said, How bad you want it?'” Anthony recollected.

The former NBA star further mentioned he was not probably going to make it to the USA Team as he was the last option on the team. “You gotta understand, that times it was ’08, s*** was going down. I had to go see Uncle Will man. Uncle Will gave me the gems, so I just wanted to give you a shout-out because of that,” he said.

Melo not only got selected for the Beijing Olympic but became the fourth-best scorer on the team. He averaged 11.5 points and 4.3 rebounds. Team USA won the gold medal at the event, which also became Melo’s first among his three Olympic gold medals and fourth medal overall, making him the basketball player with most Olympic medals.
