Winning a Grammy ain’t no mean feat. Just ask Syracuse native Post Malone, who has been nominated for 18 Grammy Awards but is yet to take home the trophy. On the other side, it was a big night when Kendrick Lamar won five trophies, including two in the “Big Four” categories- Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Another Syracuse legend, Carmelo Anthony congratulated K-Dot and called his win and the next project as divine timing.
“It’s divine timing though! Man you know, it’s divine timing, bro. This sh-t just don’t fall into play like that. It’s a lot of sh-t that goes on and time being spent in years of like building up to this moment. And it just so happened somebody getting caught in this crossfire.” What Melo means by that Lamar put in effort throughout his career, and the beef with Drake, was a divine intervention. That led to success, including sold-out shows, Grammy wins, and the next Super Bowl performance in New Orleans.
Before this, Carmelo Anthony on his podcast also highlighted the special run for the Compton native. “You have to take your hat off to K-Dot man; what he’s doing is special. It’s a moment like we don’t get runs like that. People don’t get runs like that. When you catch a run, you got to go.” The Knicks legend also mentioned not many have been on a streak like Lamar, which is why he called it divine intervention, things falling into the right places.

But the 10x All-Star knows the hard work behind this run and explained Lamar’s thought process. “‘I’mma take this to a whole another level now; I’m getting five Grammys on I’m getting five Grammys now I’m going to the Super Bowl.'” It’s not just Carmelo Anthony who is excited about the halftime performance during the Chiefs and Eagles game.

OG member of the Banana Boat Crew also appreciates Lamar like Carmelo Anthony
The crew got the name after their photo on the banana boat. To the people who don’t know, it consists of Melo, Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, and Chris Paul. Their friendship grew over time, especially after the 2008 Olympics run. But did you know the picture associated with the group doesn’t feature Carmelo Anthony?

In the original picture, it’s Gabrielle Union on the boat, first followed by the three NBA superstars. Melo had no interest in being on the boat, yet he is part of the lore behind the name. Speaking about Union, she was definitely on the hype train of Kendrick Lamar. She added an Instagram story post Grammy’s night: “I cannot WAIT for the damn Superbowl.” Alongside the caption, she added the photo of the 37-year-old artist with the crown on his head.

She even streamed the Pop-Out show while other celebs were in attendance. So the hype that K-Dot gained with his rap beef, he continued with his shows and now will perform at the Super Bowl.
