La La Anthony and Carmelo Anthony are constant supporters of their son Kiyan Anthony. Reports on multiple occasions have revealed how close a bond the three share with each other. The most recent instance has been Melo hyping up Kiyan during his recent game in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL).

In a recent game held at Memphis, Kiyan Anthony anchored Team Melo to victory against NY Rens in the EYBL. The highlight moments shared by Slam Highschool’s official Instagram page showed Carmelo Anthony cheering for his son from the sidelines. “Kiyan Anthony had Carmelo HYPE,” read the cover of the IG post. This post did not go unnoticed by La La either, as she shared it in her Instagram Story.

The post also showed some amazing jump shots, and drives made by Kiyan in the game. “Kiyan Anthony dropped 25 PTS & 6 REB in Team Melo’s win today,” read the caption to the post. Notably, this match has brought the highest points for Kiyan in the three matches he has played in the league so far.

With this match, the 17-year-old has now averaged 16.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game in EYBL. This recent win against the NY Rens was also important for Carmelo Anthony’s son. Notably, Kiyan’s Team Melo had lost the previous two matches they played in the league. However, the opportunities still exist, as Memphis is just the first of four stops that EYBL will be taking.

A closer look into Team Melo’s run so far and what lies next in EYBL

Anthony-sponsored Team Melo did not have one of the best starts in the league. They lost their first match to Drive Nation by 57-75 as none of the players from Team Melo could cross the 15-point mark. Even Kiyan Anthony managed just 12 points and 5 rebounds in Game 1 of the league. Notably, the most promising performance in this game with 21 points came from ex-Indiana Pacers star Jermaine O’Neal’s son, Jermaine O’Neal Jr.

The second game in the league was a similar story for Carmelo Anthony’s team. They suffered a 55-62 defeat at the hands of Vegas Elite. However, the third game has brought hope for Team Melo with a 74-59 win against NY Rens. Notably, after Memphis, the league will now travel to Atlanta in the first week of May, Indianapolis in mid-May, and Kansas City at the end of the month (May 24-27). The league will witness its culmination point at North Augusta (July 13-21). It is to be seen if Kiyan Anthony and Team Melo can continue their newly found success in the league.
