The NBA has been long a breeding ground for philanthropic endeavors. From LeBron James’ “I Promise” initiative to Magic Johnson’s “Magic Johnson Foundation,” basketball stars have used their platforms to make a difference in communities around the world. Now Carmelo Anthony is adding his name to the list of NBA players who are giving to the community. Let’s see how.
In a recent Instagram post, Anthony revealed that he has teamed up with the Kering Foundation to launch a new charity venture aimed at helping and empowering girls. “When the world takes care of women, women take care of the world. Honored to co-host this year’s @keringfoundation Caring for Women event #STAYME7O,” wrote Anthony as the caption of the post.
The Kering Foundation also posted a series of pictures on their Instagram story, giving further insights into what the charitable venture is going to be. It will be a third annual charity dinner under the name “Caring for Women,” which is presented by the Kering Foundation. This charity dinner is going to be co-hosted by actress Salma Hayek Pinault, her husband François-Henri Pinault, actor Matthew McConaughey and his wife Camila Alves, former NBA player Carmelo Anthony, singer and actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Urs Fischer, model Kim Kardashian, fashion designer Donatella Versace, actress Naomi Watts, and actor Billy Crudup.

This is not Anthony’s first foray into philanthropy. In recent years, he has been involved in several charitable causes. In 2006, he opened up “The Carmelo Anthony Youth Development Center,” which was aimed at helping the local community financially. He also donated $1.5 million to the “Living Classrooms Foundation,” which was an organization aimed at providing job training and community service programs to 35000 people, including children and youth.
For Carmelo Anthony, this venture represents more than just another charitable endeavor. It’s a legacy-defining move that could impact the lives of thousands of women around the world. However, did you know this wasn’t the first time the former NBA player has raised a voice for women?

Carmelo Anthony, even though he is not involved in physical activities of sports, still lives to raise his opinions for the betterment of the athletes. Last month, in an interview with the “AfroBallers,” Anthony highlighted the challenges faced by women in sports and stressed the importance of creating a more equitable environment.
According to him, sports in today’s world are evolving, especially women’s sports. “Yes, it’s needed. I think that the way sports are actually going and where it’s going, just that whole asset class is booming, and women’s sports in general. With women’s sports, we need more women supporting them from the outside,” said Anthony during the podcast. He also added that as a businessman he will try to support women athletes and also emphasized the fact that his team is comprised mostly of women members.
