“Every morning, you have two choices; continue to sleep with your dreams or wake up and chase them.” Well, does it make sense for the 40-year-old legend who, in a generic view, has achieved everything? But legends do not sleep easy, right? They chase everything that interests them. After hanging his boots, Carmelo Anthony established a fair exchange of give and take of knowledge with his son. Melo has been a guiding force in his son’s life, be it basketball or a solid upbringing, as a father he has given his all. But is there something that Kiyan Anthony can teach to the Knicks legend?
During his recent appearance at Web Summit, Carmelo Anthony was asked about the advice he has for his son, Kiyan, and other younger players regarding technology and all the new social media platforms. You by now have some expectations from a father’s point of view, right? But guess what he said?
“With my son it’s more about me listening and observing what he’s doing because you got to think he’s 17 years old. So he’s in the industry where this is constant. That’s the only way he know how to communicate,” Anthony replied with confidence.

He explained he has to look at his son and just observe from afar the things that Kiyan is into. He monitors the apps that his son is on and the different technologies that he utilizes on a day-to-day basis. But why?
“And then now I sit back and say, okay, here’s how I’m going to come into this and infiltrate this. And here’s how I’m going to build this based off of watching him and observing him and his friends because they are the generation that is going to, it’s going to expand, it’s going to blow up. It’s going to grow so much,” Melo explained. “I have to really be a student at this point in time for them to lead in this generation.” Oh, is that Melo trying to be humble?
The exchange of knowledge between the Anthonys is an ongoing process. Just recently, when Kiyan had the NIL deal, Carmelo explained to him the finances, and the importance of budgeting. “I got to talk to you about taxes at 17 years old. I got to talk about how you budget at 17 years old,” Carmelo said. A father letting his son know that success comes with its own set of challenges. Melo wasn’t just talking numbers; he was handing down wisdom, preparing Kiyan for a world where fame and fortune come at a price. But does Melo learning tech from Kiyan make sense? Because the former New York Knicks star has himself heavily involved in tech-based business!
