Recently, Dwyane Wade talked about his experience visiting the BYU campus with team owner Ryan Smith in an interview with KSL Sports. During his visit to BYU, he joined in with the team’s basketball practice. BYU is widely known for its courses available in over 60 languages. It is a nonprofit private university that has put out some NBA greats.
BYU has a deep-rooted connection with the Utah Jazz. Celtics legend Danny Ainge, who is the current CEO of the Jazz, and owner Ryan Smith both graduated from BYU.
Dwyane Wade did not let the opportunity slip from his hand. He said, “One thing I?m proud of and I?m grateful for is that Danny Ainge cannot say that he?s the greatest player to come through BYU anymore because I walked through the halls.“
Wade wanted to have one over Danny Ainge, as he remembers the back-and-forth he had with the Celtics under Ainge. Wade was eliminated by the Celtics twice when Danny Ainge was in control. So he definitely did not let go of the chance to have this one thing over him.

Danny Ainge and Wade are transforming the Utah Jazz
In his first year with the team, Ainge traded away the best five players on the team. This included the likes of their star duo of Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert. Once the dust had settled around all the trades, the Jazz ended up with 11 first-round picks just from the trades.
Lauri Markkanen, who they got in the trade for Donovan Mitchell, has elevated himself into an all-star in the league. In the Utah Jazz’s first win of the season against the Clippers, Markkanen scored 35 points. As young players like Walker Kessler and Keyonte George develop in the upcoming years, the Jazz are definitely the team to look out for in the near future.
