3x WNBA champion Candace Parker announced her sudden retirement two days ago, which stunned the internet. Farewell is always hard, and that was the case for the entire unit of Las Vegas Aces, who were the last team that Parker played for. To honor the WNBA legend, it’s only fair that the team gives a fitting tribute to her. A bunch of Aces players came together to give Candace Parker her farewell tour, but they seemingly took it too far, which had Dwyane Wade crying with laughter.
Parker announced a few days back, “The competitor in me always wants one more, but it’s time. My HEART & body knew, but I needed to give my mind time to accept it.” After her 16-year career in the WNBA came to an end, the Aces gave her a funeral tour instead of a farewell.
In a video shared by Aces star Sydney Colson, Parker’s jersey was hanging on the wall, along with some flowers and her pictures on the ground. Colson wrote on Twitter, “Retire In Peace @Candace_Parker,“ to which Wade replied, “The Farewell Tour,“ with a couple of laughing emojis. The Miami Heat legend absolutely loves it when someone takes a jab at her best friend. Anyhow, that’s a unique way to celebrate retirement, isn’t it?

“MY GOAT”: Dwyane Wade’s short note on Parker’s farewell from basketball
Wade and Parker have known each other for nearly two decades now. Both of them won the gold medal in the Olympics 2008 for Team USA. Parker achieved this honor once again in 2012 at the London Olympics. Also, both Parker and Wade are 3x champions in WNBA and NBA, respectively. So the similarities are quite evident. After Parker announced her retirement, Wade wrote on X, “My GOAT @Candace_Parker…Enjoy your retirement! Your impact on the game will last forever.”
The duo has also represented the Chicago Sky. Parker played two seasons for the organization in 2021 and 2022, winning the title in 2021. After she moved to the Las Vegas Aces, Wade bought an ownership stake in the Chicago Sky. According to reports, he invested $85 million in the franchise to become a part of the minority investor.
