Remember when an NBA star defied the laws of physics and saved a bunch of talking animals from aliens? Apart from winning six championships, that also makes one of Michael Jordan‘s greatest accomplishments. The next big thing in basketball is giving off those cartoon universe-saving vibes in real life. And he’s drawing comparisons to His Airness while he’s at it.
If Warner Bros wants to remake one of their cult classics once more, they should look no further than Victor Wembanyama. Going by some fans estimates, he’d save their visual effects budget a hefty amount.

Victor Wembanyama projects Looney Tunes-esque Jordan
At only 19, the Frenchman is proving he’s a force to be reckoned with. Victor Wembanyama is not only a scoring machine for the San Antonio Spurs, he’s also artistic at it. Someone else who was art in motion was Michael Jordan. Wemby is often compared to His Airness and his recent game spurred it further.

When the Spurs went up against the Miami Heat last week, Wembanyama dominated the game. He scored 23 points as Miami was bested 120-104. The highlight was when he pulled a poster dunk over Thomas Bryant. The still from that moment left everyone in awe of the teen.
As one social media post put it, “Wemby isn’t real.” His form and physique were so otherworldly, fans felt it was unreal enough to fit in the Looney Tunes world. Specifically, they were reminded of the final buzzer-beater of Space Jam. Even Bryant was left stupefied after being on the opposite side of that dunk.
In the 1996 blockbuster that grossed $250 million, Michael Jordan discovered the perks of cartoon physics with 10 seconds left to the game, one point behind and one player down. Jordan extended his natural 6’11” wingspan beyond human realms to pull a slam dunk that can’t be topped in his real life career.
27 years later, 7’4″ Wemby is making cartoon physics real by stretching his 8-feet wingspan. His sheer length makes fans believe that the only way to stop him from scoring is by raising the height of the rims.

This isn’t the first time Wemby is exuding Michael Jordan vibes. His incredible potential is making many see him slated for similar greatness.

Is Wemby Michael Jordan 2.0?
After major pre-season hype, Victor Wembanyama played his first game in front of the San Antonio crowd. Despite all the pressure from the hype and his first major NBA game, the French phenom didn’t disappoint.
The attention on him is as comparable to the kind Michael Jordan and LeBron James got in their early careers.
MJ set a rookie record in 1984 for scoring the most points per game, averaging 28.2 points per game. King James missed breaking that record. But NBA analysts think Wemby could come very close.
