Claiming to Be His ‘Biggest Fan’, Boxing Star Shakur Stevenson Expresses High Praise for NBA Legend Ahead of His Title Fight

Shaquille O’Neal and Allen Iverson keep making moves. Having recently signed with Reebok, Shakur Stevenson is ready for his upcoming match for the vacant WBC light heavyweight championship on November 16th against Edwin De Los Santos. And this time, he will be rocking Reebok on his feet.

Shakur revealed many reasons for his signing with the brand that is currently having a renaissance, but he noted that his love for Allen Iverson played a big part in it.

Allen Iverson was a big inspiration

Shakur Stevenson recently revealed his thoughts on signing with Reebok in an interview with Footwear News. He knows that the brand believes in him. He is looking forward to taking the brand back to its former glory.

He revealed that he was greatly influenced by seeing Floyd Mayweather and Andre Ward sporting Reebok shoes in the ring back in the day. Apart from them, NBA legends Shaq and Iverson were also big reasons for Shakur signing with the brand. Shakur has known Shaq for a while, and the two have had a good relationship. On the other hand, he has never met Allen Iverson.

Shakur said, “I never met AI, but I’ve always been the biggest fan. I love how he sets trends, I enjoy watching him set his own trends and be himself throughout his whole career. I love watching his interviews when he’s talking about practice. I’m a big fan of AI“.

Iverson and Shakur both attended Bethel High School. Iverson was already a big name back then. Once Iverson made it to the league, Reebok released the iconic Reebok Question, the first signature shoe of Allen Iverson. Shakur was introduced to Iverson shoes during his high school days. In his school, everyone was wearing the Iverson shoes, and this made him want to have a shoe line of his own. Now, years later, his dreams are coming true.

Shakur and Reebok’s plans for the future

Stevenson will be wearing his own custom Reebok shoes in the ring on November 16th.  Reebok hopes for Shakur to elevate their lifestyle and performance products throughout the year with the ‘Move Like Shakur’ line. Currently, both the brand and Shakur are looking to further promote his upcoming match.
