“I’m a bipolar LAKER fan,” were the words of Gilbert Arenas not so long ago. However, the Boston Celtics’ 18th championship title saw Arenas switch sides quite fast. He is the same man who publicly called the franchise’s legacy “irrelevant” in basketball history a few weeks ago, and the list goes on. Many fans haven’t taken kindly to the 42-year-old’s latest post on Instagram.
The retired NBA player was seen congratulating the Celtics for their victory, flaunting a special and expensive cigar collection box. Agent Zero who has often expressed his love for the Lakers congratulated the Celtics on his Instagram post. He captioned it, “@hillholliday Thank you so much for sending me this special (Boston Celtics 1-18 special Cigar) made for You guys #18 Championship 🙏🏿💯🔥 Congratulations #celticsvictorycigar.”
Along with it, he shared a close-up look of the Cigar box which was presented to him by Hill Holiday. The second slide featured another snap of him holding the box while a Celtics vs. Lakers video game played in the background. Interestingly, the Celtics’ 18th win has once again put them ahead of the Lakers, who boast 17 championship titles.

Now, back to Arenas, he had criticized the Boston Celtics by stating that they won just one title in the last 30 years before they won another one this season. “In the last thirty years, Boston has been irrelevant in basketball history,” Arenas said on X. He also argued how most of the Celtics’ championship victories were even before most of the current generation was even born.
Well, fans, regardless of their loyalty to the Celtics or Lakers, aren’t happy with Arenas supporting a supposed rival team.
Fans aren’t entertained with Gilbert Arenas’ latest stint on Instagram
One Lakers fan was upset with Arenas’ acceptance of the gift that celebrates the Boston Celtics‘ win while he calls the Lakers his favorite team. “How u gonna accept that and call Lakers “our team,” the comment read. Another fan had to remind Agent Zero of his fondness for the Los Angeles Lakers and wrote, “Aren’t you a Lakers fan ? 💀💀💀”
As mentioned earlier, Arenas had called himself a “Bipolar Laker fan” following the Lakers’ Game 4 win over the Denver Nuggets in the first round this season. He was also wearing a Lakers jacket and Lakers-themed sneakers. This sudden appreciation for Boston has clearly irked the LA faithful.
One of the fans quickly reminded the retired NBA star about his previous comment on the Celtics. “Didn’t bro slander the whole organization a few months ago?” the fan wrote in the comments section.

Another fan remarked how the expensive cigars may influenced the former Washington Wizards star. The fan wrote, “You were hating on the Celtics heavy. Smoking on that Gil Pack” to remind his initial stance on the Lakers vs. Celtics team. So, it’s quite baffling to understand where Arenas’ loyalty lies.
