Entertainment extraordinaire, Shaquille O’Neal, is already the life of any party. Pair him with the other half of the Spice Girls, the event is about to give everyone else a serious case of FOMO. After all, Shaq’s friendship with the Beckhams is as iconic as all three of them.

David Beckham is ditching Victoria to play party host with his bestie, Shaq. They will celebrate the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix on November 18 with a party that very Saturday.

The megawatt party is at Club SI in Vegas. It’ll be a three-day buildup for F1 fans leading up to the race. Breaking from the usual Sunday tradition, the Las Vegas Grand Prix commences on Saturday night.

The Lakers legend already has longstanding ties to Las Vegas, Formula One, and Club SI. But it’s his ties to Beckham that have him most excited. “I’m excited to catch up with David and connect with race fans from the best seats in Vegas,” Shaq told Sports Illustrated.

The feeling is mutual as Beckham said, “I’m looking forward to seeing Shaq and other race fans at Club SI.” Don’t be deceived by these official statements. While O’Neal and Beckham are frequent business partners, they’re two BFFs with a hilarious history together.

Shaq’s history with a soccer superstar

At the prime of his NBA career, Big Diesel saw David Beckham as a rival to beat for the title of the highest-paid athlete. Shaq is one of the highest-earning NBA players in history but he never surpassed Beckham. However, his money was the reason their friendship began.

Shaq recalled a few times on broadcasts that he found the former Manchester United star’s wallet by chance and used it as leverage to start a friendship. There was once a time he used his best friend’s fame to evade arrest in the UK.

But for him to share his story with the world, I thought that was big of him,” he said about the power couple at his Las Vegas fundraiser, The Event.
