Lil Wayne being snubbed for the Super Bowl sparked a chain of reactions. Multiple stars from different walks of life have so far backed Wayne. Stating it should have been him headlining the Super Bowl halftime over Kendrick Lamar. Amid all of this, former NBA star Jeff Teague has emerged with a mixed opinion of sorts.

A discussion emerged on Club 520 Podcast regarding Lamar vs Wayne as the choice for Super Bowl. “A lot of black people don’t listen to Kendrick,” Teague said during the discussion. However, he might not exactly include himself in the remark. Previously, the 2021 NBA champ mentioned he is not among the ones who want to see Wayne perform at the Super Bowl over Lamar.

No disrespect to Wayne though, Jeff Teague just feels that Wayne would not have played what the people like. But would’ve rather gone for the songs that masses know, like Lollipop and A Milli. As mentioned earlier, this discussion on the Club 520 Podcast comes after multiple different opinions surfaced in reaction to Lil Wayne’s emotional video.

The one where the 41-year-old stated that being snubbed for the opportunity at the Super Bowl “broke” him.“It hurt a lot… I thought there was nothing better — that spot, on that stage, on that platform… I’m just trying to put myself back together,” he said. But he did not forget to thank the ones who believed in his claim for the Super Bowl.

Notably, multiple NBA entities like Trae Young and Kenyon Martin earlier supported the rapper in their response. Martin went to the extent of stating that this year’s big hit (Not Like Us) is all Lamar has over Lil Wayne. “Overall catalog? Kendrick can’t f**k with Wayne,” he added. But then why was it that the 37-year-old rapper got chosen over his senior in the industry?

After Wayne’s emotional video erupted a controversy of sorts, Super Bowl Halftime Producer, in an interview, clarified the final say in this came from Jay Z. Notably, the 54-year-old rapper is also the co-producer of the Super Bowl halftime show. As most fans would know that Jay Z and Lil Wayne have not always gotten along.

In fact, time and again, the two took jabs at each other until they seemingly made up after Wayne signed as the co-owner of Jay Z’s music platform Tidal in 2015. Yet another speculated reason behind Jay Z picking Lamar, over the A Milli artist, is his age-old feud with Birdman. As per an article by Forbes, the feud goes back to the time when Birdman signed Wayne to his label and called him a better artist than Jay Z.

Now, although there are no reports of Lamar having any close bond with Jay Z as such, it’s said that he shares a friendly bond with Jay’s wife, Beyonce. The two have even performed together. Whatever the reason may have been, the decision has left many divided in their opinion.
