A former NBA player turned Billionaire! In 2023 Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson became the only fourth professional athlete to enter that club. Previously, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Tiger Woods were part of the list. Interestingly, his on-court wealth amounted to only $40 million from his NBA career. If adjusted for inflation, the Los Angeles Lakers legend’s career income rounds off to $110 million. But thanks to his shrewd business acumen he has reached that mark.

When you make enough wealth, naturally real estate investment becomes a part of your portfolio. Naturally, this is the case for Magic Johnson as well. Multiple mansions, ranging from 7,700 square feet to 12,000 square feet. Some would even stand toe to toe against any theme park with the number of amenities inside the house. Being the high profile player ever since the college days, it is obvious his home would also be larger than life.

Looking at Magic Johnson’s first home with and without his wife Cookie

His very first property reportedly came in 1981. At the time he was already an NBA champion too with the youngest finals MVP accolade. A 10,000-square-foot custom mansion built in Bel Air. It was a six-bedroom home built in guard-gated Moraga Estates. Consisted of the family room, the game room, the media room, and even a locker room. The game room had its own wet bar which connected with the backyard for a better experience. The media room had an entire wall of glass looking down onto a massive indoor basketball court. Any basketball player’s home is incomplete without a court.

Not to forget it had a pool, spa, barbecue, and fire pit to complete the homely atmosphere. Magic Johnson reportedly stayed in that place until he met his wife. His purchase and selling price for the mansion is not available, but he left a goodbye note in the locker room where he had other NBA player’s autographs. “Good luck, work hard. P.S. Have fun.” As per 2022 records, the house was available at a whopping price of $14.5 million. This was his home before he tied the knot with his wife.

It’s the same house that in 2013, was on full display on Oprah Winfrey’s show. Situated in the Beverly Hills, gated community Beverly Park, Magic Johnson shelled out $2.3 million at the time. The 12,000-square-foot house consisted of seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms. Want something more impressive? A patio with a bar, a fire pit in the backyard, plus a barbeque and a grotto especially built for family reunions.

It also had a full-size tennis court and a pool in the backyard. The thing that caught people’s attention was the ‘Magic’s man cave’. It had a collection of his jerseys, trophies, and obviously a basketball collection. That collection signified his assists, double-doubles, and triple-doubles. More importantly, Magic Johnson revealed to Winfrey that he had never worn those five rings and the most special one was the 1985 one. Simply because it was a victory over his long-term rival Larry Bird and the Celtics.

This place has been on the market multiple times, first in 1992 for $6 million. Later in 1998, close to $8 million, but reportedly the couple still owns.
