Magic Johnson continues to stack dubs on his resume. The NBA legend, over the years, has turned himself into a business mogul and it’s almost like whatever Magic touches, turns to gold. Having amassed over a billion-dollar net worth, his most recent success is the MLS soccer franchise, the LAFC.

Recently, a published report detailed the MLS teams’ valuation in 2024. As of now, there are four teams in the league that are valued at over $1 billion. Magic’s team LAFC topped the chart with a staggering valuation of $1.15 billion.

The MLS has gone through a massive change in the last year after bringing in some of the most popular soccer stars in the world. Because of these additions, several teams have benefited from it. Magic’s team saw a 28% growth in their valuation as compared to where they were last year. The league has benefitted immensely with the arrival of Lionel Messi in America. The Argentinian soccer star was brought in by English soccer legend David Beckham for his Inter Miami CF team. Since then, the interest in the MLS skyrocketed, and seems like everyone has benefitted from it.

Despite a prominent name like Messi playing in the league, Magic’s team still topped the chart. Although the Inter Miami CF saw the most growth among all the teams with 74% value change, they’re still valued at $1.02 billion. Inter Miami is currently ranked 3rd overall, jumping up seven ranks.

Upon his arrival, Messi said, “This is a fantastic opportunity, and together we will continue to build this beautiful project. The idea is to work together to achieve the objectives we set, and I’m very eager to start helping here in my new home.” Turns out, it is not only Inter Miami that gained more relevance, but the attention brought to the league by Messi has elevated all the other teams too. His arrival also brought celebrity attention as some of the biggest stars in the country showed up to get a glimpse of the Argentinian star.

With all the attention and interest skyrocketing, the valuation was bound to go up as the investments and advertisement money went through the roof. The other teams in the top 5 are Atlanta United at number 2 with $1.05 billion, LA Galaxy with $1 billion, and New York City FC with $840 million.
