LA Dodgers have made it to the World Series and Magic Johnson couldn’t be any happier. The former NBA star, and now a part owner of the Dodgers, has been rooting for his team throughout. Not with just some flowery social media posts, but with his presence in the most crucial moments for the team. He, however, never fails to recognize the efforts of the real heroes of the team—the players, the coach, and the staff. Something that even his recent post on X reflected.

“Congratulations to the Dodgers players, Manager Dave Roberts, the entire ownership group, and to all of Dodger Nation on beating the Mets and advancing to the World Series!!” Magic wrote on X. The Dodgers clinched their spot in the World Series by defeating the Mets (10-5) in Game 6 of the National League Championship Series at Dodger Stadium.

Now, Magic Johnson’s team is set for a showdown with the New York Yankees. Starting this Friday, right back at home in Los Angeles. And boy is this matchup the one for history books! It’s the 12th time the Dodgers and Yankees will meet in the Fall Classic. But it’s been over 40 years since their last face-off in 1981 when the Dodgers took the crown.

Sure, the Yankees have won eight of the previous 11, but could this be the year the Dodgers turn the tables? “When you’re playing for the Dodgers and playing for the Yankees, it better feel different… If not, you better do something different for a profession”–LA manager Dave Roberts’ statement at Yankee Stadium from last June shows what value the clash of two teams holds. No wonder Johnson has been impressed by Roberts. Not just for beating Mets but to recognize who the real competition is.

Are the odds favoring Magic Johnson’s Dodgers in the World Series clash

Will the Dodgers' 40-year wait for revenge against the Yankees end in triumph this year?

Have an interesting take?

As per an article by Sports Betting Dime, both teams were preseason favorites, with the Dodgers opening at +341 to win it all. And the Yankees trailing at +1000. Now, as they face off for the ultimate prize, the odds slightly favor Los Angeles.

Right now, the oddsmakers have given a slight edge to the Dodgers. They’re listed at -135 (as of October 20), while the Yankees sit at +115 (as of Oct 20). In plain terms, that means the Dodgers are favored to win their eighth championship, and their second in just five years.

The 2-3-2 World Series format, which dates back to 1924, gives the Dodgers home-field advantage. Games 1, 2, and potential Games 6 and 7 will be played in Los Angeles, while the Yankees will host Games 3, 4, and a potential Game 5. Now it’s to be seen if Magic Johnson’s team can cash on this advantage to them.
