In the modern NBA, players are not just all about their games. They have millions of people watching them. They are expected to use their voice for a good cause. And LeBron James has been generous in that regard. He has always been vocal about societal issues. So much so that even a former teammate of his GOAT title rival Michael Jordan praised his influence.

Both on and off the court, former Chicago Bulls guard Craig Hodges made extensive contributions that went unnoticed. However, that is not the case with the Los Angeles Lakers star. “Today’s athlete is much more conscious and has a greater financial and social platform. Social networks have given everyone a voice. It’s beautiful to see Lebron James talk about racial inequality.

He further told Infobae, “These athletes are doing a great job of having a dialogue with each other and taking positions in groups. His group voice is stronger.” As Hodges mentioned, James has been an advocate for racial equality and has often spoken about the influence of icons such as Martin Luther King Jr.

King James is a formidable force in leveraging his off-court influence for societal betterment. As a true activist, he is always unafraid to ignite political and social change. He is even criticized by the public for getting involved in political issues that aren’t related to the NBA.

As someone who has previously struggled to achieve success, King James ensures to help as many people as he can. The LeBron James Family Foundation, established in 2004, initially distributed bikes and backpacks. Over time, it focused on after-school programs and I Promise School.
