Back in 2006, the Miami Heat went on to win their first NBA championship. Although the team had Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O’Neal at the helm, they traded for a 6’1 point guard. It’s safe to say that the Sacramento Kings legend had his fair share of impact on the team’s success, as he won his only ring in his first year in Miami.
Although he is widely known for his own nickname, White Chocolate coined an iconic moniker for the Flash during his time in South Beach.

In a recent episode of the FLAGRANT podcast, the special guest was Jason Williams. During their conversation, Williams talked about his time in the NBA and winning a championship with the Miami Heat. The main driving forces of the Heat were Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O’Neal.
?After spending time with D-Wade , Williams realized that he had a story similar to that of an iconic movie character that came out in 2004.
This led to him giving Wade a unique nickname. Knowing this, during the podcast, one of the hosts asked Williams what he named Dwyane Wade. Williams said, “Boobie“.
When asked why he called him that, Williams revealed the true reasons behind it. Williams joined the team in 2005. A year prior, in 2004, a sports-drama movie came out, and it was a massive success.
The movie was ‘Friday Night Lights’ and that’s where Jason Williams got the idea to start calling Dwyane Wade “Boobie”.
Does Williams’ nickname fit Dwyane Wade?
In the movie, one of the main characters is a running back on a football team, and his nickname is ‘Boobie’.
The character gets injured during a game. Doctors persuade him to get surgery, but he gives his all for the team and still decides to suit up for the upcoming games. In the movie, the character says, “If ya’ll wanna win, let Boobie spin“.

When Williams was Wade’s teammate on the Heat, he noticed that many times when the games got close, Wade would tell Pat Riley the same. This is why Jason Williams chose this as a nickname for Dwyane Wade.
The Flash has other similarities to ‘Boobie’, as he himself has fought his way back from knee injuries in his early days. The 3-time NBA champion had to get surgery on his meniscus before he made it to the NBA.
