While greasy fast food is loved by many, does it have a place in NBA players’ culture? We wouldn’t have witnessed Dwight Howard consistently performing basketball miracles if he hadn’t embraced a pivotal lifestyle change. Recently, an Instagram post provided insight into his dietary choices. Following this, the athlete quickly gave his update on the matter.

Indulging in 25 sweet candy bars daily is a surefire way to lose your chance at a highly competitive league. This habit of Howard posed a significant threat to both his career and his life.

As per the Instagram post by ‘Bleachers Report, Howard’s past dietary regimen included a staggering 25 candy bars daily, Skittles, starbursts, Twix, tootsie rolls, snickers, and Popeyes. The post was captioned, “Dwight Howard’s early NBA diet was WILD.” Furthermore, his McDonald’s order was equally royal consisting of two double cheeseburgers, a large fry, a small fry, a strawberry chocolate milkshake, and a large coke.

To avoid any misunderstanding, the athlete promptly left a comment on the post. He emphasized just how significantly his diet has transformed, spurred by a stern warning from his doctor. “After the doctors told me about the risk I was putting myself in I changed my diet immediately.

The 3x DPOY added, “I bought a farm and began to grow my foods instead of eating processed food. I stopped with the candy and replaced them with fruit and vegetables. Making that change has helped my mind become clear and increased my longevity as a player.”

He’s not the only one. There are other athletes such as Shaquille O’Neal who encountered a similar challenge due to his indulgent fast-food preferences.
