Isaiah Thomas was the final pick in the 2011 NBA draft. Despite being undersized, the 5’9 guard was able to cement his spot in the league with his talent and tenacity. Just as his meteoric rise to glory began, Thomas quickly found himself at the other end of some unfortunate injuries. The last time he suited up for an NBA team was with the Charlotte Hornets in the 2021–22 season on a 10-day contract.

Since then, Thomas has tried to make his way back to the league and has been dedicated to his process. Yet the 2x All-Star has not changed the minds of the NBA teams.

Isaiah Thomas is looking to come back to the NBA

After receiving an honor from his alma mater, Isaiah Thomas returned to the spotlight. He took the opportunity to express his desire to return to the NBA. But does he have a chance? IT4 was recently inducted into Washington Huskies Hall of Fame. Thomas played for the Huskies for three years.

During an interview with Forbes, Thomas later revealed how grateful he was to have played under Lorenzo Romar, who was the head coach of the Huskies for 15 years. This led the 34-year-old to revealing his desire to be the head coach of the Huskies in the future.

Although that is one of his goals for the future, he is currently focusing on making a return to the NBA, and that comes before everything else. Thomas said, “I’m still trying to play the game of basketball. I want to get back to the NBA. So, I’m still working out and staying ready.”

Thomas has not had a chance to prove his worth to the NBA team in recent years. Since his value was at an all-time high when he played for the Boston Celtics, the Cleveland Cavaliers traded for him while even giving up Kyrie Irving at the time.

But since then, his career has been on a downward trajectory, and now he finds himself on the outside looking in.

Can Isaiah Thomas make his way back to the NBA?

Following two consecutive All-Star appearances, Thomas was putting the league on notice with his MVP-level performance. Unfortunately, he suffered a hip injury in 2017.

He made his return to play before getting fully healed, and Thomas revealed that the Celtics team did not disclose how the quick return would impact his full recovery. Since then, Thomas has struggled to get back to his former self.

He was slowly slipping down the ranks after his stint in Cleveland, and by 2021, he had found his way out of the league. Now the only hope for Thomas is for a team to take a chance on him and give him a 10-day contract.
