The spooky season is upon us. It is that time of the year again when people will dress up as their favorite characters or go the distance to stand apart. While everyone has their reasons behind their love of Halloween, the late great Kobe Bryant had a special relationship with the festivities.

The rather serious Kobe had a soft spot for some things in the world. Apart from being a loving family man, the LA Lakers legend was a hardcore Harry Potter fan. Similarly, he had his own way of pre-game as well. In a resurfaced clip, Kobe detailed his pregame ritual, which was linked to the theme of Halloween.

As we all know, Kobe liked to do things differently. As for his pregame rituals, like every other athlete, he had something unique. Often regarded as the hardest worker in any room, the Lakers legend had a special pregame ritual that was based around Halloween. Athletes develop their pregame rituals over the years based on what has worked for them. While most athletes try to seek some inspiration through speeches and songs, Kobe’s ritual was fitting for his image on the court.

For Kobe, it was the Halloween theme song that did the trick. In a recently resurfaced clip, the Lakers legend details why he prefers listening to the Michael Myers track ‘Obsession‘. Kobe had said, “This kinda makes me seem very psychotic.” He said, “I used to play the Halloween theme song, over and over and over in my headphones.” One would wonder ‘why?’ and Kobe’s reasoning was that “the mask itself was void of emotions.” As per the late legend, this helped him get in the zone and after that, it was all business on the court.

The 5x NBA champion had a special place in his heart for the Harry Potter and Game of Thrones series as well.

Kobe Bryant’s most prized possession

During one of his appearances on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Kobe was asked about the most valuable thing he owns. The Lakers legend said he has three things that are extremely close to his heart. His love for them is such that if the house was on fire, he’d grab those three things first. He had said he had signed copies of Harry Potter and Game of Thrones and his Oscar-winning film Dear Basketball‘s score signed by John Williams.

This was a largely unknown side of the late legend as he was most known for being absolutely ruthless on the court.
