JJ Redick is one of the best players in collegiate basketball history. Although fans hated him for his attitude and personality on the court, his talent was undeniable. This led to various teams showing interest in him before the NBA draft. But little did he know that he would be sitting in jail two weeks before his draft, wondering how his future would turn out.
JJ Redick recently talked about his experiences before getting drafted by the Orlando Magic. Redick was on The Starting Five show when he revealed the real misfortunes he faced when heading into the draft that led him to get arrested.

During the draft combine, Redick discovered he had a herniated disc on his back. This meant that he could not meet every team for workouts, making Redick go back to Duke and stay in his apartment. But he was soon about to face something worse.
His apartment was filled with people. So one day, he took his friends to a party. Before heading back, Redick dropped everyone off at a bar. But that’s when he was stopped by the police. They charged him with a DUI. All this made Redick think that his NBA dreams might be in trouble.
Redick said, “So I have got the herniated disc, I’ve got the DUI, it’s 13 days before the draft. I can’t work out for these teams. I just remember being in jail at 4:30 in the morning and being like, ‘Am I gonna go play in Europe?’ Is that what is gonna happen here?”
As we all know, he was drafted by the Orlando Magic and went on to have a productive career. He was great in his role and is one of the best shooters in the history of the NBA.

JJ Redick became a star at the collegiate level. Fans from other universities despised him because of his attitude, but his talent was undeniable. The head coach at Duke called Redick the best pure shooter he had ever seen.
The university and the program did everything necessary for Redick to succeed, and he fulfilled all his dreams. His jersey now hangs in the rafters.
