Who knew NBA stars could dance? Which player surprised you the most on 'Dancing with the Stars'?

Dwight Howard’s basketball career is a testament to his athletic prowess. With an incredible height of 6-foot-10 and distinctive playing skills, the NBA champion’s been a force to be reckoned with in the NBA. However, beyond his on-court achievements, Howard has been known for his playful personality, which has led him to clinch his place in many TV shows. Now it seems that the center is ready for another stint in a show.

The 8x NBA All-Star had traded in his jerseys for sequins and dance shoes. Howard is going to be featured in the 33rd season of the dance reality show “Dancing With the Stars.”. But he’s not alone. Let’s see who are the champ’s co-stars.

We can say that the roster for this year’s Dancing with the Stars is quite versatile, ranging from athletes to models to TV show stars to film stars. First, starting with the athletes, we have the wide receiver for the New England Patriots, Danny Amendola. Besides winning two Super Bowls in his career, the 38-year-old has experience in TV shows; he was a part of the reality show “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.” The next athlete, the winner of two bronze medals in the Paris Olympics, is Stephen Nedoroscik. He was a pommel horse specialist in the US men’s gymnastics team. The list doesn’t end here.

The next athlete in the Stars lineup is Ilona Maher. The 28-year-old made the US proud by helping the US women’s rugby team to clinch bronze in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Next are the stars from the reality TV category. Here we have two contestants who have previously played in the reality TV show “The Bachelorette.” They are 26-year-old Jenn Tran and 29-year-old Joey Graziadei. 

Next comes the list of film and TV show stars, and yes, the list is huge. Here we have the “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Phaedra Parks, the “Zombies” franchise star Chandler Kinney, the Netflix show “Inventing Anna” lead Anna Delvey, the “King of the Gypsies” sensation Eric Roberts, the “Beverly Hills 90210” icon Tori Spelling, the “Die Hard” character Reginald VelJohnson, and lastly the 27-year-old Sports Illustrated model and actress Brooks Nader.

There are a total of 13 contestants in the 33rd season of “Dancing with the Stars,” including Dwight Howard. For each contestant, there is a pro partner who would guide and help the stars throughout the show. They are Val Chmerkovskiy, Witney Carson, Jenna Johnson, Alan Bersten, Brandon Armstrong, Ezra Sosa, Britt Stewart, Gleb Savchencko, Emma Slater, Pasha Pashkov, Sasha Farber, Daniella Karagach, and Rylee Arnold. The show will air on September 13th at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

As Howard continues to dance his way into our hearts, it’s clear that the crossover between sports and entertainment is alive and well. The athlete has proven that he has what it takes to succeed in the ballroom just as much as he has on the court. But as mentioned earlier, this is not Howard’s first stint in reality TV, so what are the shows that he has worked on?

The other reality shows that the All-Star has worked in are Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in 2006, The Suite Life on Deck in 2011, and Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test in 2023, where he ranked third. As Dwight Howard continues to explore new avenues, it’s clear that his talent and charisma extend beyond the basketball court.
