The trading of the face of the franchise that too in the middle of the season just doesn’t sit right. It’s not even 24 hours to the news, however, opinions on winners and losers of the trade have started. Many former players have sent mixed reviews, but Jeff Teague has another opinion regarding Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis’ trade. Where he detailed his dislike for the trade, especially for the Dallas Mavericks, even though the idea of the AD Kyrie Irving duo sounds good on paper.
“When I first read it, I didn’t like it. I was like, why would they trade Luka Doncic perennial superstar, All-star every year?” In the emergency podcast episode, the 36-year-old was first surprised, like everyone, to hear the news. Many believed the Slovenian superstar was an untradeable asset on the team, that’s why the trade is more baffling. Jeff Teague would later talk about the real issue with this trade, that the Mavs may have not considered.
“For aging Anthony Davis, who we know has injury problems. Been healthy the last couple of years but for the most part he’s been injury plague his whole career. I’m like ‘I just don’t like it’. But when you read about it and see where they going as a franchise Dallas Mavericks then it makes a little more sense but I still don’t like it.” There definitely is a six-year difference between the two superstars involved in the trade. Plus AD’s injury record has been a real problem in the past.

The sentiment from Jeff Teague is what the entire world is feeling right now. Even NFL superstar, Patrick Mahomes first added, “Wait what?” At first, like the majority of the people, he was in disbelief. But later added, “I’m sick rn…” He is a big supporter of the Mavs franchise, so one can understand his reaction when the franchise’s face is traded away. Apart from them, Kendrick Perkins‘ first reaction too was “WTF!!!!!” He even works with Shams Charania at ESPN, yet the Celtics legend had no clue about the trade. “Man @ShamsCharania account has to be f—ing Hacked.” Another Celtics legend, Paul Pierce was more critical about the Lakers approach with Luka Doncic. “He not the super star La needs doesn’t fit the mold Magic Kobe Shaq LeBron just saying tho bad Move.”
Only time will tell which team really got the benefit of this trade. But the more details come about it, the more shocking it gets. For example, even the Head Coach of the Mavs, not knowing until it was official, makes it unbelievable.
