The Los Angeles Lakers are still in a hunt to find the right head coach for their organization after Darvin Ham was fired a few weeks back. With new speculations rising every day, former Denver Nuggets coach George Karl is here with a piece of advice for the Lakers, which might help them find the right guy for the coaching vacancy. Anyhow, this also involves a few bold claims about LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and their future in the league, which the Laker buffs might not entertain.
The league permitted the Lakers to interview the assistant coaches of a few notable teams. Reports have revealed that LeBron James’ podcast buddy and former Clippers star JJ Redick is the leading candidate to land the job. Before the Lakers take a final decision, George Karl wanted to dish out advice.
The 2013 Coach of the Year wrote on X earlier today, “I’ll give the Lakers coaching search committee free advice today – LeBron isn’t a superstar anymore and AD will never be one. Now be sure to use those Truths when evaluating candidates and u might select someone u keep for longer than two szns!”

These bold words from Karl received a lot of backlash from the netizens on X, especially the Laker fans. He shared another tweet a few hours later, “Wait, there are actual living people who believe LeBron is a superstar still today?!” making his point clear about the NBA scoring leader. Karl has not been a fan of the recent firing in the NBA. He showed his frustration after Darvin Ham, Frank Vogel, and a few more got fired due to the team’s postseason failure. Notably, after reports revealed the possibility of Redick landing a job with the Lakers, he did not hold back.

George Karl hints JJ Redick would be unfit for the Lakers’ head coaching job
Being a coach for the LA unit is a huge shoe to fill in. The pressure is sky-high, and with the Lakers facing back-to-back failures in the last four seasons, a lot will be expected from the new coach. Karl believes Redick will not be suitable for such a role because he has never been a head coach in the NBA before. He tweeted, “So if the Lakers hire a new coach with zero experience (JJ)…that should fix everything right away!“, sarcastically declaring Redick unfit.
So who does Karl want the Lakers to hire? The 72-year-old former head coach wants the Lakers to change their players and not their head coaches. He wrote in another tweet, “Coaches are used as scapegoats for system-wide issues“, thus shifting the blame towards the front office and the players of an organization. Let’s see if the Lakers are ready to listen to Karl’s advice.
