LSU Lady Tigers superstar Angel Reese has made a grand return to college basketball. The 21-year-old made waves in the hoops community last year with his Finals MVP performance against Iowa’s Caitlin Clark. But, following her WNCAA success and a few stints with the national side, the young baller wasn’t found anywhere close to the basketball court or the public’s attention. And, finally, Reese opened up on her hiatus and credited the Los Angeles Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal for keeping her sane.

While she never revealed the true reason behind her absence from the court, in an interview with USA Today, she said she took a break, which was a mutual decision between her and her coach Kim Mulkey. The interview also focused on her social media hiatus. The LSU superstar had a pretty active social media presence, sharing opinions and pictures with her boyfriend, Cam’Ron Fletcher. But it was all put to a pause along with her on-court presence.

However, she credited Shaq with providing her wisdom and keeping her sane and away from social media. She added, “One thing I always remember he [Shaq] said is, I have the world at my (fingertips). I could post right now on Instagram that I bought a million dollar home and people are going to believe it, because that’s how social media works.”

Shaq – Reese’s father figure

Shaq, a former LSU superstar himself, took up the job to shape up the youngster himself. The bond went up a notch higher and Reese considered him her father figure.
