When Larsa Pippen and Marcus Jordan were first seen together in public, it stirred a bit of controversy. Even though Larsa and Scottie Pippen were divorced in 2021, many could not fathom her dating the son of Michael Jordan. It is because of Jordan and Pippen’s legendary time together for the Chicago Bulls. The duo played together for years and won six championships. So a lot of fans and even some media personalities were not happy that Larsa was dating the son of her ex-husband’s former teammate. However, a former teammate of MJ and Scottie defended Larsa and Marcus recently.

Larsa and Marcus were first seen together in a restaurant in Miami a few months back. As rumors of the two dating sparked, both denied it. However, they still made multiple appearances together in the weeks that followed. Finally, the couple announced their relationship via social media.

Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen’s former teammate gave his take

After initial rumbles, the talk about their relationship had toned down in the months that followed. However, things once again flared when Michael Jordan was asked about it. Notably, Larsa had claimed that Marcus Jordan’s parents gave their approval to their relationship. However, it looked like that wasn’t the case when Jordan was asked about his approval of his son’s relationship. Interestingly, the five-time NBA MVP shook his head and replied “No”.

Amidst this, four-time NBA champion John Salley recently talked about it during a podcast appearance. Notably, Salley played alongside Scottie Pippen and Jordan for the Bulls and won one title. Interestingly, he defended Marcus and Larsa’s decision. He also revealed why he is “Team Larsa”.

Salley stated no one would have batted an eye if the reality TV star was in a relationship with someone less popular. But the co-hosts pointed out that Scottie and MJ were teammates. However, Salley argued that it was still her decision. He said, “Everybody has an idea on how a woman should be. Men should be however they wanna be. I have daughters. I realize they were humans.”

Salley added, “I was enlightened because I have daughters. Well, most guys don’t think women are human. They feel they are ‘This’ and they have to do ‘This’. And that’s not fair. So I believe that women have a choice to do what they wanna do with their body and their time.”

Another host noted that he doesn’t have a problem with Larsa. However, he was not happy with Marcus dating her. Salley defended Marcus while citing the recent beef between Scottie and Michael.

Marcus Jordan was eight years old when Larsa Pippen and Scottie Pippen tied the knot in 1997. At the time, Larsa was 23. Pippen and Michael Jordan played together for one more year and won their sixth and final ring in 1998. Also, the age gap between Larsa and Marcus has been a huge topic of discussion ever since they started dating. However, Larsa has made it clear that she had not met Marcus or any other children of MJ when her ex-husband played for the Bulls. Even though Pippen and Jordan are not very close now, some are still not happy with Marcus dating Larsa.
