Since the NBA turned down TNT’s matching rights offer, Charles Barkley went from being retired to making his comeback and there were even hints of his production company taking the onus of the show. But the 76ers legend said he would honor his contract. Later, he also claimed that rival networks offered him $100 million more than his existing $210 million contract.
With WBD being in debt of $41,889 million after 2023-12-31. After the first quarter end of this year, the debt still amounts to $39,148 million. And ESPN’s Burke Magnus called it a “perfect world” if Charles Barkley was working with them. “I would be lying if we said we weren’t interested in Charles.”
The President of content did not stop there and continued, “The entire industry is interested in Charles. So he’s really that special, so we will see.” The only reason Charles Barkley stayed with Turner was because he cared about his family in the network. Who could be losing jobs if the show doesn’t stay on?

But with competing offers, there is always a possibility of a switch. And Chuck could even be able to take his entire family with a new network if the offer is right. Even NBCUniversal Media Group chairman Mark Lazarus agreed with Magnus. That’s the pull from Barkley that rival executives agreeing over one person “If he were to be available, certainly we’d be talking to him,” Lazarus said. So is Chuck available?

Appearing on the Dan Patrick Show, he clarified that the executives of TNT flew to his place and were positive about the status of the show. However, when probed by Patrick regarding the format, Chuck was not sure what the idea was for the show. As his main condition was to make sure the crew was not losing their jobs.
Recently Turner Sports CEO Luis Silberwasser, made a statement about the future of the network. Although they are losing the NBA, they have new properties in College Football Playoffs, Roland-Garros, NASCAR, BIG EAST college basketball, and Mountain West football, among others.
But the caveat is Charles Barkley has stated many times that he has an opt-out clause in his contract. If any time he feels unsatisfactory, he could move on to any possible network. With ESPN and NBC executives publicly acknowledging Chuck, there is a possibility that he once again makes a new decision about his future.
