Recently, two of the Shaquille O’Neal kids began their collegiate journey. With three games done, they are settling into their respective teams. Most days have been about them. But today, the celebration is not about them but about their sibling Amirah O’Neal, who is currently happily pursuing her life outside of the basketball realm. On her special day, while Shaq may have forgotten to publicly wish Amirah, her mother Shaunie Henderson had a sweet message that included an honest mistake.
“Happy 24th Birthday to my FAVORITE OLDEST daughter @amirahoneal_ Literally the life of the party and naturally beautiful from the inside out. 24 years has flown by and I’ve enjoyed every single second of being your Mom. You make me beyond proud… I love you so very much and can’t wait to celebrate you. Happy Birthday Mimi ❤️.” The only thing that the mother got wrong was the number 24.
Just last year, she wished her “favorite oldest” daughter “Happy 22nd Birthday Mimi! I love you soooooo much.” But that doesn’t take away from the sweet video edits and song choice of ‘Happy Birthday by Jovanie’. (Minutes later she edited the date which now correctly reads as 23). Shaquille O’Neal is late for the party, as he is yet to wish Amirah O’Neal. But one member of the family remembered the details correctly.

While she has always been good on the basketball court, given her genes, she has chosen to part ways with the career to pursue something on her own.

Shaquille O’Neal’s daughter chose her own path despite an appearance in LSU
The 23-year-old is a former TSU and LSU star. But Amirah has seemingly chosen to work on other goals this time around. “WORKOUTS ARE ABOUT TO START. I GOT MY FIRST JOB. I GOT MY OWN APARTMENT.” She also confirmed her relationship status and the support from the loved ones. “I HAVE THE BEST BOYFRIEND. I HAVE THE BEST FAMILY….I’VE BEEN WORKING ON MY STUFF!!! LIFE IS GOOOOD!!!!.”
In July this year, Amirah wrote on her Instagram story. Before choosing off-court endeavors, she was incredible, especially during her time at Shaquille O’Neal‘s alma mater. In LSU, during the 2018-19 season, she was averaging 17.2 points a game. Later, in 2019, she earned the MaxPreps California All-State Girls Team honorable mention and thus became a 2x All-State honoree.

So, Amirah has chosen her own path, and currently also works as ambassador for Fashion Nova. The brand has over 21 million followers on Instagram. Stepping away from basketball is not a bad choice as she enjoys her 23rd birthday with her loved ones.
