Is 23XI Racing tarnishing Michael Jordan's legendary status, or can they turn it around?

Michael Jordan and his 23Xl Racing venture tasted victory recently, but the feeling was bittersweet. With his racing team in South Carolina, his business for the Jordan Brand did not stop. Recently, Luka Doncic and other Jordan Brand athletes, Jayson Tatum, Zion Williamson, and Paolo Banchero were part of the brand’s China Family Tour. Three weeks ago, the Dallas Mavericks star announced his latest sneakers, and now we have another variant of it, which takes his love for “Motorsport” to another level.

The Chicago Bulls legend’s love for cars is unmatched. Even with his car collection, it is very evident. Similarly, Doncic dropped Luka 3 “Motorsport” which is a collaboration with Forza Motorsport and the game Forza Horizon 5. Plus, the game also launched an in-game model of the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro. And Michael Jordan-led brand did the same with his latest kicks.

It is the fourth release after Luka 3 ‘Speedway’, ‘ Blurred Vision’, and ‘Photo Finish’. All start from $130 for adults, and for kids, it is priced at $100. The Nike website states, “On the court, Luka sets his own pace. But put him behind the wheel and it’s a whole different story. Inspired by MJ and Luka’s mutual love of fast vehicles, this Luka 3 will have you reaching for your seatbelt with a design that nods to screeching tires and burning rubber.

It also has a touch of Elephant Print design on the sides, which is a nod to Michael Jordan. Before the release of ‘Photo Finish’, the Dallas Mavericks star called it a fun collaboration, saying, “This design being inspired by cars is fun. It’s about the speed and control you need on the court, just like on the road.

Talking about control, Michael Jordan and his team couldn’t control their results. And he left the Darlington Race track with mixed emotions.

Michael Jordan and his 23XI Racing venture

Is 23XI Racing tarnishing Michael Jordan's legendary status, or can they turn it around?

Have an interesting take?

Michael Jordan, the co-owner of the team, along with Denny Hamlin, is heavily involved with the team. 23XI Racing is one of the youngest teams on the grid. Tyler Reddick beat Kyle Larson by a single point to win the regular season title. But, his teammate Bubba Wallace’s night turned worse.

The driver of the No. 23 Toyota started the Southern 500 from the pole position, and his chance took a hit literally and figuratively. With just over 20 laps to go, a multi-car accident left Wallace with nowhere to go, getting hit on three sides. Michael Jordan was indeed disappointed but was proud of his driver’s effort.

“You know, for Bubba, he’s got to keep getting better. He’s going to use these next races to try to get a win and do the best he can, but you know, we can’t stay complacent. We’re going to keep getting better.”

With it being the youngest team, MJ would hope to turn his 23XI into a dynasty just like the Bulls.
