“This is completely False. I never had plans on attending Banner night and I’ve never reached out to anyone in the Celtics organization about attending banner night.” The former Celtics player and current analyst at ESPN, Kendrick Perkins, already debunked the reports on X. And once again he had to discredit the report from Brian Scalabrine while also revealing the current head coach’s gesture.

“I actually like Scal but I thought that should have been a phone conversation right.” Kendrick Perkins said on All the Smoke podcast, “Starting this season, I actually get a email from Joe Mazzulla saying ‘Hey Perk. Whenever you’re free, if you’re in Boston or we play the Rockets, I want to go to dinner and break bread.‘”

Kendrick Perkins revealed to the hosts that he plans on meeting the coach to bury any differences. “I will apologize for the comment, It was a lot of humor in there but you know again I’mma own up to and apologize.” But before apologizing and explaining about the Mazzulla email, the former Center criticized Scalabrine.

“When we won a championship, was in street clothes, hurried up and changed into your jersey. So, once we started taking pictures, you could know that you were part of the team.” Because Scalabrine reported, “It’s not really an open arms thing with Kendrick Perkins,” on his Sirius XM show.

Let’s not forget, the 39-year-old has been the same since his playing days. That is why, even today, he is working as an analyst for his blunt assessment. After all, he even feuded with his fellow 2003 draft classmate, LeBron James.

“And look, I’m a follower of Jesus, but everybody didn’t follow Jesus.” Perkins doubled down on being okay if the Lakers superstar unfollowed on social media. Even if the former Center is okay feuding with the Purple and Gold star, he doesn’t want the same with the Celtics.

Not just Joe Mazzulla, but Kendrick Perkins spoke to higher-ups in the front office

“I have a personal relationship with Wyc Grousbeck like Wyc Grousbeck came to my wedding.” On the same podcast, the former champion revealed that he spoke to the owner of the franchise, amidst the beef. “So I reached out to Wyc Grousbeck, we had a conversation obviously he felt some way about the Joe Mazzulla comment.”

As stated previously, Kendrick Perkins is very blunt. He has called out players before. “I’m so over Jayson Tatum. When is he going to arrive?” Previously, he also called JT “scared as hell,” and this year’s Finals as “boring.” If you think it’s not controversial, wait for the Mazzulla comment. “And you wonder, if you take his brain out and you put it in a bird, the bird is going to start flying backward.”

On the same podcast, he clarifies that the second part of the comment was taken out of context. Further explaining that he has been a fan of the Celtics’ head coach. During a game, the 18x NBA champions missed more than a few from beyond the arc and Kendrick Perkins explained the issue, “When the Celtics you know are looking like are looking good, Joe Mazzulla looks like a genius.”
