When you’re Big Aristotle, you don’t need any extra titles to host the party of the year. ‘The Event’ is Shaquille O’Neal’s annual charity concert to support The Shaquille O’Neal Foundation. Far from its deceptively understated name, Shaq makes every penny donated towards his charity worth it.

2023 is the third charity show of this annual occasion and he’s raised the bar every time. Joining him this year are two EGOT titans, John Legend and Jennifer Hudson. Fans can watch the vocal powerhouses perform on October 7 for tickets priced between $50 and $250.

He’s collaborating with Pepsi Stronger Together to amp it up with their performance lineup. Alongside music, attendees can enjoy some comedy from Joel McHale who will host the show. Ray Romano of Everybody Loves Raymond fame is a regular headlining act in Las Vegas who will perform his stand-up at The Event.

DJ Diesel also has some major bass connections. That means fans can have a headbanger when Anderson Paak aka DJ Pee Wee takes the console. The top-billed lineup also boasts the country-pop act, Dan + Shay.

Shaq doesn’t leave the organization to just anyone. He’s enlisted Grammy and Emmy-winning music director, Adam Blackstone, for the arrangement. This is the biggest day on Shaq’s calendar and he’s pulling out all stops.

The Event is the main fundraiser for the NBA star’s eponymous foundation. Resolved to help children, his foundation supports the Boys & Girls Club and the Communities In Schools. The past two events have reportedly raised $6 million combined.

That’s not the only way he’s supported his foundation. In 2021, Shaq shocked fans by raising an astounding $2.5 million for the foundation through NFTs. On a recent charity spree, the big man stopped by a Texas center of the Boys & Girls Club to check the progress on his gift to it.

Last year, Shaq joined Adam Levine for a duet on stage and performed with Kelly Clarkson before that. We’ll have to see how he tops that this year when he hosts The Event on October 7.
