6X NBA All-Star Amar’e Stoudemire has received a huge honor. His jersey #32 is officially retired by the Phoenix Suns on March 2 during the Phoenix Suns Ring of Honor ceremony.
Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson has shared a post on his Twitter account of a private celebration held in Manhattan. Stoudemire compared his achievements to Hollywood actors. Stoudemire said, “For Phoenix to build, to acknowledge his 32 jersey to be in the rafters, it’s something that we can’t duplicate, right? Because it’s a forever thing. It’s technically being immortalized. This is its equivalent to the guys who get the star in the walk in the Walk of Fame in L A.”

He continued on to explain how all the things he achieved wouldn’t have been possible without his family.

Humble beginnings for Amar’e Stoudemire

Stoudemire had a difficult childhood. His father died when he was just 12 years of age. During that time his mother would be in and out of jail frequently. But he continued on his dream to play in the NBA. He says Yeah, you know what, I wanna thank everybody. “First of all, for coming out tonight, this is amazing celebration for me to be able to retire in 32 jersey. That means nobody will ever be able to jersey ever again to be Arizona as a kid from poverty growing up in Lake Wells Florida in Fort J New York to be drafted by the Phoenix Suns. That’s a, that’s an amazing accomplishment right?”
He explains how being drafted was a huge success for him. That’s why he left everything on the court. His ferocious style of play comes from playing in the streets. He played with heart and that’s why continued training even after his practice. 41-year-old says “I wanted to be the best player that I could possibly be. And so I took that notion of trying to proceed and accomplish that. “
He played 8 years of his career for the Suns, and thanked god for making it possible. ” So first of all,God is the ultimate creator of this thing, right? The passion for it is, is where it sets,And so, you know, but all in all this won’t happen without family, friends, loved ones, the perseverance,the will and want to be great.”

Stoudemire ended the video by saying, “And so tonight is a celebration, a celebration for all of us. Because we’re all from a similar home of beginnings and to be able to persevere through our, through our situations, allow us to be great in our own space.”
