Reebok is going back to its roots. With their own Sneaker Culture trendsetter leading the charge now, they have a new offering fans are going to love. Allen Iverson himself unveiled this new addition to his series of iconic kicks, creating the buzz it deserves. This new sneaker comes from an unprecedented collaboration between Reebok, DraftKings, and SURGEON.
The ‘Day 1’ is a dynamic design with the AI aesthetic combined as a tribute to the one that started it all, The Reebok Question. It not only encompasses The Answer’s impact on the style-sphere but pays tribute to the ’90s of basketball. But if you want to get your hands on one of these pairs, there’s a twist.
The Day 1 is not available for sale. (At least not yet.) You have to win these pairs on DraftKings. As AI wrote on Instagram too. “Introducing the ‘Day 1’, a one-of-a-kind lifestyle sneaker from DraftKings, SURGEON and Reebok that pays homage to my impact on basketball and first-ever iconic sneaker, the Reebok ‘Question,'” read the official announcement along with the most rizz-dripping ad to go with it.

He further added, “The ‘Day 1,’ is artfully designed and handmade by the SURGEON, as an ode to ‘90s basketball, my influence on the game and the culture that surrounds it. While the sneaker is not for sale, visit DraftKings.com/Iverson for your chance to win a pair.”

Since he arrived in the NBA in 1996, Iverson oozed the rebellious and boundary-pushing aesthetic. Nothing represented his panache better than his signature Reebok shoes. The ‘Day 1’ is inspired by his stacked career using Reebok’s Club C 85 tennis shoe reminiscent of the Reebok Question Mid. An AI sneaker is not complete without the signature color-block look which comes in a dash of red in the ‘Day 1.’

Similar to the commercial siphoning clips of prime AI, the shoe has its own highlights of his career. Quotes in the insoles and the SURGEON and DraftKing logos in gold finish it off. This draws from the current trajectory Reebok is on spearheaded by AI’s prez, Shaquille O’Neal.

Reebok’s revival is in Allen Iverson
Shaquille O’Neal recently revealed he pushed his business, Authentic Brands Group, to acquire Reebok from Adidas. Authentic then placed Shaq and AI as heads of the basketball division to restore the brand to its former glory. O’Neal, the first athlete to have a signature shoe under the brand, has always preached The Answer is the answer to their prayers.
He’s following the tried-and-tested re-release formula by bringing back Iverson’s greatest hits. The unsung hero has to be the Answer 3 that didn’t get its due hype in 1999, now making a comeback in 2023.
