Allen Iverson just dropped a spot in an all-time list and he’s never been happier. This guy is all about passing the torch, especially when the next in line is his ‘favorite.’ That would be Steph Curry, who surpassed two NBA legends today. The Warriors superstar passed Allen Iverson on the all-time scoring list and Kobe Bryant on the all-time assists list. Somehow that’s not making people happy. AI dismissed the Curry deniers in one very heartfelt congratulatory message.

Congrats to my lil bro @StephenCurry30! It’s been amazing to see you rewrite the game. Respect to the greatest shooter to ever do it! Well Deserved!#MyFavoritePlayer,” wrote the current 29th leading scorer in the NBA.

While playing against the Toronto Raptors on Monday night, Curry drilled a three with over four minutes remaining in the last quarter. That was the 24,371st point of his entire career. It moved him up to #28 on the all-time scoring list, above Iverson’s career 24,368 points. He’s now about a 130 points away from Ray Allen.

In the same game, Curry dished out dime no. 6,308 and surpassed Kobe Bryant for 35th on the NBA’s all-time assists list. The Dubs ended up losing the game 104-101. Curry finished the game with 26 points, and 7 rebounds and assists a piece.

The Warriors’ second straight loss is dampening Curry’s big night it might seem. Despite Iverson hailing Curry’s double milestone, fans aren’t acknowledging the moment. They’d rather stay in a world where AI is still holding that #28 spot above Curry.

Allen Iverson is the minority on the Steph Curry bandwagon

What’s your perspective on:

Is Steph Curry truly rewriting the game, or are fans stuck in the past with Iverson?

Have an interesting take?

The Answer’s answer to Steph Curry’s accomplishment is not how most people seem to feel. Most our taking one phrase from Iverson’s post to repeatedly claim that Curry is ‘not rewriting the game.’ Others are surprised that the all-time 3-point leader still hasn’t surpassed Jerry West at #25.

A big differentiator between the two scoring leaders is AI’s less dependency on the 3-point shot. His signature crossover coupled with a smooth mid-range shot made Iverson one of the most talented scorers in the NBA. Meanwhile there’s people like Iverson’s Reebok boss, Shaq who blame Curry for the surge of outside shooters.

Very few appreciate the mutual admiration between two of the most prolific scorers in the league’s history. AI famously told Curry,You’re in my top 5 all day long.”

The Chef himself idolized Iverson growing up. “As a little kid, I always wanted to be like Allen Iverson.” The Answer has been the inspiration for an entire generation of scorers.

And while certain retired players and fans are blaming Curry for the 3-point phenomenon bringing down NBA ratings, AI isn’t the type to tear down players. For both of the greatest shooters in history, their mutual admiration has come full circle.
