The sports world has been more exciting than usual over the summer months. While typically a period of calm, this summer has been chaotic, to say the least. Whether it is blockbuster trades, mass exodus from industry leaders, or a riveting World Cup, the months have had something for everyone. However, one conversation remains the same. Since the end of the season, Stephen A. Smith has been looking for new grounds to conquer. Despite not being one of the many employees fired by ESPN, the boisterous voice wanted to evolve. As a result, the YouTube sphere became his stage. Even though he’d begun the transition with his own podcast, he’s taken a deep dive over the last few months.
That dive includes a much-anticipated episode with Paul George. But, perhaps no episode came close to generating a buzz quite like his latest one. With his soon-to-be debate partner and former co-host of Skip Bayless, Shannon Sharpe at his side, Smith was at his best.
Whether it was Zion Williamson or the obvious GOAT debate, the two crossed all boundaries on Club Shay Shay. Speaking of the aforementioned GOAT debate, the former NFL Tight End’s MJ critique left Mr. Smith stunned.
Bringing up Jordan’s first ring against Magic Johnson and the Los Angeles Lakers, Shannon made some strong points. “You saw what he [Magic Johnson] did to Jordan…Put a triple-double on his head, they had to put Scottie Pippen on him.”?
As he shifted the topic to the other opponents the Chicago Bulls faced, Stephen A. clearly avoided Sharpe’s claim. Perhaps, he’s now realizing his newest partner is going to be bringing some strong competition with him.
