Carmelo Anthony retired from the NBA in 2023. But he never left the sport. Through his podcast, 7PM in Brooklyn, the former New York Knicks player deftly shares his basketball knowledge and insight. Despite his deep understanding of the sport that continues to thrill fans, there are certain basketball related jobs that he has simply refused to take on. Amidst the recent surprising development involving NBC, Melo just dismissed the idea of taking on a highly coveted broadcasting job.
The former Denver Nuggets player is spectacular on his podcast. While he didn’t plan to start a podcast, he eventually enjoyed it as the fans and listeners would vouch for it. And he is interested in exploring other opportunities. However, there is one thing he isn’t interested to do and it is play-by-play commentary.
“Play by play is tough…I never thought I would do a podcast right! And sitting at a desk and and doing play by play- is not my DNA. That’s not my DNA but if we want to talk basketball and we want to talk the game and we want to talk plays and we want to access and like we want to talk about the psyche of the athlete and what they going through at that moment and why he decided to make that decision I can give you that perspective,” Melo said during the conversation with Boardroom. Even though the host feels that the retired NBA player. would be a great choice for play by play, he agreed with Melo’s opinion.

“Having fresh new blood in there to talk the game of basketball, talk the game of basketball in different ways and different varieties as opposed to just sitting up there at the desk and everybody’s kind of giving their pain under two minutes and like that’s not the way that the game need to be told anymore,” Melo explains why he doesn’t wish to take the offer.
But, it seems Melo has finally found the most fitting job for himself. It has been recently announced that the former New York Knicks player would be joining the NBC roster as an analyst. The Athletics’ Andrew Marchand made the announcement. A career spanning 19 seasons, during which he played in the NBA as well as represented the nation on a global platform, the former leading scorer is likely the best man for the job.

Bringing out Dwyane Wade for Team USA coverage at the 2024 Paris Olympics was marvelous! It was also a hint that NBC is pushing the envelope to create one of the most unique talent squads. Fans loved Wade at the Olympics and hope to see him as a permanent member of the roster. Is there any chance he will be interested in joining?

Is Carmelo Anthony’s friend Dwyane Wade reunion with NBC possible?
Wade was undeniably a great choice for the job. “I’ve never been an analyst. Jumping into the Olympics has been a big challenge,” Wade told NBC.His unique and refreshing touch in commentary attracted attention. Well he also also received criticism for it. But would he be interested in taking the job again for a permanent role? That is the question. He has experience, having worked at TNT as an analyst before.

And even after his latest stint in 2024, he seemed interested in exploring his options. “It has to be the right situation for me. My platform is so different, I speak on so many things, I stand for certain things, I don’t know if everybody stands for what I believe in,” Wade voiced his concern.
But he has one condition. “If I can find all those things I’m looking for, if I get compensated the way I feel like I should get compensated, then yeah,” Wade said about the chances for his comeback. So, the chance of reunion depends upon Wade and the network. Just a few days ago, former NBA player Jamal Crawford has also confirmed that he would be joining the NBC roster. Considering the New York Knicks legend’s podcast, it would be safe to assume that he is equally splendid in his new role as well.
